We just saw the new movie "Hereafter" - directed by Clint Eastwood, starring Matt Damon as a psychic who didn't want to be a psychic anymore. It wasn't as good as I wanted it to be.

Damon did a good job, but the movie just dragged. Other than the few scenes shown as trailers, there was little action or suspense. There are way too many scenes where the character named Marie is speaking in French with her lover and/or coworkers. The subtitles got old real fast.

Hubby and I were discussing what seemed to be missing in each of the three sub-plots, and we came up with the need for more angst. While each of the plots was compelling, there was just not enough emotional tug to really keep us as interested as we wanted to be. And the ending was quite contrived.

In a nutshell - "Hereafter" never reached its full potential.
