    I'm excited for Best Director!

The Hurt Locker is sweeping these awards! This doesn't bode well for Avatar or Basterds.

The Hurt Locker just won editing. That pretty much guarantees it Best Picture.

I'm also kind of excited for Best Actor. I know, Jeff Bridges is probably going to take it, but he did win the Spirit Award. And that award is notoriously cursed, with only one winner going on to win the Oscar. But I don't know, Jeff is still probably going to win.

Hahaha, that was endearing. He seemed so flustered seeing the teleprompter.

Why did they not show Farrah Fawcett in the In Memoriam tribute? Seemed like a big ommission to me! confused

I was happy to see M'onique win, but I was shocked at her acceptance speech. When she's won at the Golden Globes, etc. she's given great speeches. Tonight, she acted as if her performance was the only one that was Oscar worthy. What was up with that?

As far as the woman who won for costume design, I thought she was actually being very magnanimous. She acknowledged that this year she wanted to laud those who did non-period / royalty movie costumesw, as she felt they never got their fair chance. They were automatically passed on for people like she. So, I thought she was being nice and not arrogant.

Whoa, they're changing things up. It's not past winners; it's past co-workers!

And I think Farrah wasn't shown since she didn't work primarily in movies. And perhaps she wasn't a member of the Academy.

ETA: I'm reading that she actually was a member of the Academy. The reason they didn't show her was because they like to focus on movie stars. But still, why include MJ then? He wasn't primarily known for acting.

    Woo, go Jeff Bridges!

I always love when he thanks his wife. They seem so in love.

I love that they have co-workers honor each nominee. It makes the phrase "It's just an honor to be nominated" really true.

I think the Farrah omission was a crime. She did have a run of movies in the 70's: Logan's Run, Sunburn, Saturn V. No, she wasn't all that good in them, but still. It's like from the moment she died, Jackson has upstaged her.
