| Brothers Impressive cast -- Natalie Portman, Jake Gyllenhall and Tobey Maguire In theaters 10/4/09 Trailer here: Brothers - In Theaters December 4 I think it looks super compelling, powerful performances from all three in the trailer alone.

| Re: Brothers I know. I think the best part about it is that you honestly don't know which brothers' side to be on. I love films that aren't immediately obvious. And I think this movie is a great vehicle for all three actors to turn in strong dramatic roles. They are all so talented!

| Re: Brothers I haven't seen the new American version (obviously), but I did see the incredible Danish film from which it was adapted (also called Brothers, available on Netflix, stars Connie Nielsen). I'm betting they change the central event of the movie for American audiences; the original was one of the most heart-wrenching, gut-tearing scenes I've ever seen. It haunted me for weeks.

| Re: Brothers Well my daughter and her friend went to see this movie last night at the midnight showing. She woke me up when she came home to tell me it wasn't like she thought it would be. That's all I know....I was half asleep. lol Sooo, not sure if I will pay to go see it or not. I'll need to talk to her more about it....and she's still sleeping. ![]() |

| Re: Brothers it was pretty much what i thought it would be--had no idea how it was going to end though i thought it was pretty decent---it might be oscar potential but i would not be suprised if it wasn't nominated for anything---the academy is so picky lol but interesting story |

| Re: Brothers The reviews I've read so far alternate between which of the 3 actors has the most outstanding performance, but love them all. One said Jake G. again took the supporting role and made it the star performance (as in Brokeback Mtn.), another raved about the other brother and said it was Oscar worthy, both liked Portman and said it was her best work since... you get the idea. BritLit---did you see this yet? If not, or if you aren't planning to, could you tell us what the central scene was in the original, using spoilers, so we can compare? Thanks! |
