Re: Fifty Actors We'd See in Anything

I no longer seem to see as many movies as I'd like. However, the content of the movie will usually drive me a lot more than the actor/actress starring in the film.

I agree with norealityhere!

I'm more inclined to like the older era of movie stars-Clark Gable, Van Johnson, Jimmy Stewart, Kathrine Hepburn, Olivia DeHavilland, Joan Fontaine, Bing Crosby to name a few.

Actually, that is generally more the way I feel, and I generally also determine the director to be more important than the actors. However, those ones I highlighted do tend to act in the sort of films I enjoy and I will watch whatever they might be in if it's free on television, even if it's something I won't pay for.

And wow, I can't believe that I forgot to add Steve Buscemi and Bill Paxton to my list - they're my original "must-see" actors and I have seen nearly literally everything each of them has acted in and has directed.

I'd agree with you, famita. I assumed we weren't to include those who have passed on, but if we did, my list would be very long indeed. To yours, I'd add Cary Grant, Audrey Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart, Richard Widmark, Lee J Cobb, also to name just a few. I'd have to eliminate Bing Crosby from your list, though. Really good singer, not so much an actor, IMO.

I guess this could somewhat be true as i just watched an episode of ER that I haven't really watched in years just to see George Clooney in scrubs again

I've been a fan of his since he was the very sexy Easy Reader--definitely made children's educational TV something for a parent to look forward to!

Me, too! And I'm so excited to see others that share the same Ed Harris love!!

I think the only other one that I would label a "must see" for me is Colin Firth. There are a number of other people on that list that, while I may enjoy any movie that I see them in, I wouldn't exactly label them can't miss viewing.

For the most part I'm also someone who looks for a story line not an actor but...
My must see list would have to include:
Harrison Ford
Pierce Brosnan
Jason Statham
Bruce Willis &
Wil Smith
(I like action movies - can you tell?)

Must AVOID list:
Anything with Tom Cruise in it.

I'd have to add Kathy Bates to my list. Any film she is in, she makes better.

Re: Fifty Actors We'd See in Anything

Kate Winslet
Jude Law
Philip Seymour Hoffman
Meryl Streep
Johnny Depp
Emma Thompson
Helen Mirren
Bill Nighy
Christian Bale
Joan Cusack
Alan Rickman
Javier Bardem
Alison Janney
Steve Carell
Paul Giamatti
Clive Owen
Julianne Moore
Colin Firth
Laura Linney
I agree with this lot. Winslet is my favourite actress (finally an Oscar winner!) I'd also add Michael Sheen (although if the New Moon rumour is true, I'll be missing that), Kenneth Branagh, Maggie Smith, Catherine O' Hara, Helena Bonham Carter, Fiona Shaw, Michelle Williams and, pre mentally unhinged rap career, Joaquin Phoenix.
