Re: Watchmen

Saw it. Didn't read the novel. Was confused. But in the end I think I get it

Re: Watchmen

I also saw it and never read the GN and thought it was bad. I was bored and not interested in it at all. I saw the previews for it and thought it might be interesting, but I didn't feel that during the actual movie. I also thought it was way too long, about an hour and half in I was ready for a nap. The theater I was at I could tell most of the audience was clearly fans of the GN and they seemed to enjoy it. When I left I definitely got the sense it was much more for fans of the GN than for a general audience.

I did think Rorschach (sp) was the best and the actor who played him did an awesome job.

Bad news maybe...I haven't seen it yet...or read the GN...but from the reviews he dies early on...his murder is the motivation of whatever else happens... so unless there're a lot of flashbacks you won't see much of him. On the other hand he (and Rorschach) got the best reviews of the actors by far, even if one did call him a low rent Robert Downey Jr., and said that he chewed both cigars and scenery, they meant that in a good way, believe it or not! I had actually never noticed the similarity to RDJ until just before I read that... was looking at a picture of JDM in the movie and saying to myself, wait, I thought JDM was in that movie and that looks like RDJ!
The woman got panned (the one with long black hair who's the girlfriend of the blue guy)...one review said she was the Jar Jar Binks of the movie...ouch!

Re: Watchmen

There are plenty of flashbacks, so Jeffrey Dean Morgan is in a lot of scenes.

Oh, good! I'm a BIG JDM fan myself...I'll even put up with him as Izzy's hallucinatory dead lover to watch him.

Re: Watchmen

Finally just saw it in the IMAX. Was pretty good I thought. Was confused as to why it turned into soft-core porn for about 4 minutes, but ok...

As everyone said, Rorschach was the best character/actor in the movie. His mask was aweeeesome. Dr. Manhattan was my favorite, by far. I absolutely love him and would watch 3 hours of just him.

Did anyone else notice how loud and awkward and totally ridiculous the music was?
