Interesting tidbit: Meryl, Phillip, Amy, and Viola all managed to receive an acting nomination for their work in Doubt, but the movie itself failed to be nominated for Best Picture. Anything or anyone you believed got snubbed? Who are your favorites to win? Discuss away! ![]()

| Re: The 81st Academy Awards - Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009 I was surprised and disappointed that Wall-E got snubbed for Best Picture. It's been winning many of the Best Picture and equivalent awards all around the place (like Los Angeles Film Critics Association, Chicago Film Critics Association, Boston Society of Film Critics, Online Film Critics Society), and was the true underdog for at least A BP nomination at the Academy Awards. I believe it is higher rated by critics than most, if not all, of the Best Picture nominations this year But, with the history of the Oscars snubbing Animated, Science Fiction, and Future-oriented films, I guess I should have seen it coming. (I'm now hoping Wall-E can at least get the awards for Original Score and Screenplay, since both are excellent. At least Wall-E is a shoe-in for the Best Animated Feature) Anyway, I'm 100% behind Slumdog Millionaire to win now. |

| Re: The 81st Academy Awards - Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009 I'm pleasantly surprised to find that the Best Pic and Best Director nominees match up. Usually, that is a big controversy with one getting a nod and the director snubbed or vice versa. Oh and for the record, I've not seen one of the nominees for best picture. I'd like to see Benjamin Button and Slumdog Millionaire before the Oscars though. |

| Re: The 81st Academy Awards - Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009 I'm very excited for the Oscars tomorrow. Well, more for the fashions than the awards ceremony really. I'll be keeping an eye out for Viola Davis because I thought she looked stunning at the SAG awards.
