Bearcata - the red-eyed vampires are the ones that feed on humans. The Cullens are amber-eyed because they feed on animals only. And drink TrueBlood. Oh...oops, wrong vamp series, sorry.

I just saw it and enjoyed it a lot more than Twilight. I was sorry that the wolf pack members, particularly Sam, didn't get as much dialogue as in the book and their backstory wasn't explained well. Other than that, it followed the book quite nicely. Bella's cliff-diving scene was my favourite, but I would have liked maybe 10 more seconds of her and Edward "meeting" underwater - I liked the other-worldly (is that a word?) feel of the scene. We are solidly Team Edward at our house and this movie did nothing to change that - I still think Robert Pattinson is a wonderful romantic hero and I've always enjoyed Kristen Stewart's Bella (I agree she looked much prettier in this film). And I can now accept Taylor Lautner as Jacob - he did a great job and thank God that awful wig is gone.

I saw the movie today and was very happy with the improvement over the first one. Only one thing I really hated- Rosalie's wig. Yes, her character was closer to how I had imagined book Rosalie to be but when I think of someone who is described to be one of the most beautiful women alive (or not) I do not think think of her as wearing a dead Halloween wig.

Kristen's acting improved 10 fold. When she was having nightmares and screaming it made my heart squeeze. Jasper had a whopping what, 2 lines in the movie and they were my favorite. I also liked that they seemed to darken Victoria's hair a few shades. It made the underwater scene where she is swimming and her hair is flowing out like flames look more dramatic than a lighter color. Aro was perfect.

All in all, it was good. New Moon was my least favorite book in the series so I wasn't really anticipating falling in love with this particular part of the story but it is one I would see again and buy when it comes out on DVD.

    Thanks for explaining that point.

I don't see the film, yet. In Lithuania you can see a film, only about 2 weeks later, than in America.
But I think, it will be a good film. :]
Sorry, if I did lots of mistakes... I can't write and talk in English well.

Welcome Yankee. I can understand you.

I hope you enjoy the movie, have you read the books?

    Re: Twilight: New Moon

I went and saw the movie yesterday, Yay!!! I really enjoyed it a lot. I agree with most of the previous posters. Kristen Stewart was much MUCH better this time around!! (I think she only bit her lip once toward the end of the film). I loved the special effects of Edward appearing to her and then blowing into smoke. The makeup was also not so terribly noticeable and the vampires movement was also greatly improved. I liked the more obvious contacts this time because I thought they were barely noticeable in the first film. I thought the wolves were a little cartoon-y at the beginning, but by the end it wasn't bothering me at all. I officially cannot wait for the next movie!!!

I took my SIL with me. She has not read any of the books, has not seen the first movie, and does not care for vampire movies so I was not optimistic. Turns out she really liked it too!! She may even go back and read the books now! I guess that says a lot about the fact that this is really less a vampire movie and more a love story that happens to involve vampires!

Overall I enjoyed the movie though it did drag a bit after the Volterra segment.
I thought Kristen Stewart was again note-perfect. The scenes in the book after Edward left Bella were so visceral and Kristen captured the depression and anguish fantastically. Robert Pattinson was better than in the first movie though there were still a couple of cringe-worthy scenes; Taylor had a couple too but he was mostly good. Jasper still wins the worst actor in the series crown however.
The makeup was better though I still think the white makeup was a bit heavily applied. The amber contacts were also a bit too vivid.
Favourite scenes were the birthday party at the Cullen's house, both of the movie-going scenes (Jessica and Mike brought some much-needed levity to the movie, especially Jessica) and the Volterra scenes.

My husband and I went to the 10 a.m. show on Friday for that exact reason and instead of screaming teens, it was a theater full of swooning 28 & up women!! My husband called it a major cougar convention and said he should've been given a shirt that said "I survived the premiere of New Moon." LOL!! I plan on sneaking back after Thanksgiving break is over for another early show.
Thanks, cantstopwatchin and JavaJo! I haven't gone yet....waiting for a period that I'm free AND the tweens are in school...but it sounds like I can handle that. The handheldness has to go on for a while for it to really get to me...or to my stomach!

    Re: Twilight: New Moon

gosh I guess I will never make it as a movie critic because I thoroughly enjoyed both Twilight and New Moon. I have not read the books and I didn't go expecting any great theatrical drama... just an opportunity to get away for a couple of hours. It did the trick and I thoroughly enjoyed both movies.
