The epic Batman saga grossed US$75.6 million in its second weekend in theaters, pushing its domestic total to US$314,245,000. That surpasses the record set in 2006 by "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," which took 16 days to make $300 million.

I just saw a rumor over on Yahoo TV that the whispering is that Depp will be tapped to play the Riddler in the next installment. I'd love to see that! Hmm...that wouldn't be my top five (what the link lists).

Mine are as follows:

The Penguin
League of Assassins (any of them but in particular Lady Shiva)
Clayface
Two Face
The Scarecrow

The Riddler is probably my all-time favorite Batman villain, but it would be interesting to see how the character would be handled in the "darker" Nolan adaptations. The Joker, Two-Face, The Scarecrow, and Ra's Al Ghul all rather lend themselves to more serious portrayals, and the Riddler has always been . . . well, Frank Gorshin. I loved his performances in the old shows, but I don't think that's quite what Nolan is interested in.

I also really like The Penguin and Dr. Hugo Strange as choices, and they could be portrayed well. (The Penguin as a British arms dealer? That's good.) The others are very obscure, and I'm surprised that they sneaked Zsasz into Begins. I hadn't ever heard of the character.

My only other top choice would have to be The Bookworm.

Joking. Sort of.

ETA: Oh my gosh--The Mad Hatter! I'd forgotten about that character, but that would be incredible!

As a villian????? Maybe competition but not a villian. Depp as the Riddler. It would be awesome if there's any truth to it. I guess I will have to keep checking his movie listings on IMDB and see if it is listed in his upcoming projects. When are they making another Batman?

Aww man! I got it from Yahoo TV who got it from the Boston Globe and silly me, trusted that they would have checked their sources. He would have been great in the role.

As far as the spoiler is concerned (why are we spoilering it anyways?) that character was originally created as a villain during the 1930's but then turned into a superhero. So I could see it.

Almost forgot about Bizarro. That could be interesting.

NO, NO, please God No. She would kill the franchise like every other movie she bombs in. Scarlett Johansson maybe could do the character justice but not the Alba.
