Re: 2008 Academy Award Nominations

Anyone else think the randomly placed ruffles on the front of her dress look ridiculous?

At least Alan Menken has the decency to rip himself off and not others. This is a retread of "Under the Sea"...

I love Kristin Chenoweth though. This song is beneath her.

I imagine that's the least time for someone nominated in a supporting role ever.

I think I pretty much agree with everything you said in your post, Critical.
Love Ruby, love Hal, think DDL is the finest actor of his generation etc.etc.
I'm sure I saw you declare you love for Jonny Lee Miller the other day too.
You're a woman of impeccable taste
I thought it was Judi Dench with the record, but I looked it up on a website and here is what it said about Judi Dench:

Her 1999 Oscar was awarded for an eight minute performance in only four scenes as Queen Elizabeth I in Shakespeare in Love (1998). It is the second shortest ever performance to win a Best Supporting Actress Oscar, the only shorter performance being Beatrice Straight's six minute performance in Network (1976).

Don't hold your breath...

I'm not surprised at anything at the Oscars after it was awarded to the song "It's not easy out there for a pimp"!

Re: 2008 Academy Award Nominations

Apart from the performances of the the 3 songs nominated from Beauty and the Beast, I have yet to see many other Disney songs done justice at all during the oscars. It doesn't help that they change the songs so much....

Seth Rogan (?sp), the less heavier one, first became somewhat famous from his role in Knocked Up --- if you have seen the DVD cover, he is the one on the cover with the goofy look on his face.

Re: 2008 Academy Award Nominations

Seth is also the one who wrote SuperBad based on his life growing up. I didn't like the movie though...too crass for me.
