| Re: 2008 Academy Award Nominations Colin Farrell's "persona" annoys me too, but I gained a lot more respect for him as an actor after I watched The New World. It was a really fantastic movie. I'm not sure I have ever watched a movie that conveyed so much emotion with so little dialog. |

) I met George Clooney once. He was very charming and nice. (And then I untied him and let him go... just kidding!)

All members of the Academy have to be invited by the academy to join, with an invitation extended from the Board of Directors. Even though the list of members is not technically public knowledge, the Board of Directors is public and their press releases of who they have invited to join each year are. This is what I found on the Academy's website Quote:
The fact that there were 2 (count 'em 2) people that were willing to sponsor Gary Busey to enter the academy is comical, lol! Anywho, on to more important things like Javier Bardem! I saw him in "The Dancer Upstairs" and totally fell in love with him. I have to say too that I hope that they release "No Country for Old Men" soon to DVD. There are no theaters that are showing it right now and now that I finally have time to see it, I can't .

| Re: 2008 Academy Award Nominations He didn't need a sponsor. Because he was nominated for best actor in 1978, he was automatically in. Plus, he didn't used to be as looney as he is now.

I used to like Busey, but he's gotten really strange as he's gotten older.
