| Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street ! That's all I can say! I went to see this tonight with my husband and LOVED it! The cast was outstanding, the costumes and makeup were fantastic and the music was phenomenal. I was very impressed with all their singning voices. I had no idea that JD could sing like that. And yes, he is doing all his own singing as is the rest of the cast. I don't think anyone else could've done 1/2 as good a job as Sweeny Todd as Johnny Depp did. Very very impressed indeed.

| Re: Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street What makes me laugh is that 3 HP character portrayers were in this movie. You had Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange in HP), The guy who played Snape (can't think of his name off hand) and the guy who played Peter Pettigrew. There were some pretty funny scenes with JD and HBC that had everyone in the theater laughing out loud. And Sacha Baron Cohen was in it too which I didn't know about. I recognized him immediately, though. I would definitely go. If you have a Showcase Cinemas in your area (with the stadium seating and whatever), see it there. We have one about 20 minutes from us and I can't imagine seeing that movie anywhere else.

| Re: Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street I'm not a huge Tim Burton fan but I do like some of his stuff. I loved it because I love anything Johnny Depp is in. The only JD movie I hated was Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I got so bored with it, I had to shut it off. Too bad Blockbuster doesn't do that thing anymore where if you're not satisfied with your rental, you can bring it back and get another one or get your money back. Because it was a waste of 4 bucks! But this movie is my new favorite JD movie.

| Re: Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street I really didn't want to see this but a friend wanted to. We were 10 minutes late but you can easily pick up the story at that point. The sets and makeup were gruesome. You really get the how depressing it would be to live in Victorian England if you were working class. I was surprised as the singing and the acting were quite good. I must admit there was too much blood and guts and gore for me at the end and I was closing my eyes and sticking my fingers in my ears. It deserves its R rating. Very much a Greek tragedy. Meaning [[everyone dies]]. Personally I could have lived without seeing it. But it was a very well done film, just not to my taste, and totally inappropriate for the holiday season. There is no peace and goodwill to man in this film.

| Re: Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street i loved it, and i'm not a real huge fan of musicals, but i thought some of the songs were really really good see i like dark humor so i found it to be totally funny, especially the part when mrs. lovitt's shop opens again, i find these kinds of stories not to be taken seriously at all, they are what they are i like some tim burton films, i really liked bettlejuice, and some of the scenes in this movie reminded me of it and johnny was so much hotter i this than those pirate movies lol the movie wasn't too gruesome for me because it looked so fake |
