| Peter Jackson to make "The Hobbit" I'm excited about this; I loved the LOTR books, enjoyed the movies, and will definitely see this. Quote:

| Re: Peter Jackson to make "The Hobbit" I'm sure Mr. LG and I will see it too. Actually, I'm pretty sure he'll go see it with some of his buddies first, and then I'll see it at some later time, because The Hobbit just can't wait until we have a babysitter. ![]()

| Re: Peter Jackson to make "The Hobbit" This makes me really happy. The Hobbit is my favorite books of this whole grouping. I'm glad Peter Jackson is part of it so they all have a similar feel as well. I will definitely be seeing this one. ![]() | |

| Re: Peter Jackson to make "The Hobbit" I just saw this on Yahoo! News and actually gave a little "WooHOO!" I was so ticked off when New Line said he would not be directing The Hobbit and I wondered what director in his/her right mind would even attempt to take the project on after the huge success of the LOTR trilogy films. My mother first read The Hobbit to me when I was 7. I've read it once a year, almost every year since then. It's one of my very favorite books in the world. I know Peter Jackson will respect the book and give us two great movies. Now I begin the countdown until film 1 in 2010! ![]() ETA: I just noticed that Pete hadn't signed on to direct: just to produce. I wonder who he'll choose or if he won't be able to give up control of the films to anyone and will decide to direct them himself (I hope)

| Re: Peter Jackson to make "The Hobbit" This is great news! Only Peter Jackson should make this film and I hope he does direct it. Newline Cinema has made some really bad decisions lately. It's my guess they realized the box office backlash "The Hobbit" movie would receive if helmed by anyone else. Not that it wouldn't be successful, but not nearly as successful as with Peter Jackson's name attached to the project.

| The Hobbit So apparently the news broke yesterday that the director of Pans Labrynth Guillermo Del Toro, will be directing The Hobbit, not Peter Jackson. I'm not sure how I feel about that? But I *am* excited to see these books come to life. I adored TLOTR trilogy, but I don't know if that was sentimental or if I truly needed Peter Jackson's eye on things.

| Re: The Hobbit While I liked Pan's Labyrinth very much, I am disappointed in this choice. I think the wise move is to "go with the guy that got you there." I also think there will be a big backlash from LOTR fans who admire Peter Jackson's work. On the other hand, a lot will depend on the results. Bilbo's story is harder to tell. If the results are good, people will be forgiving and the furor will die down some. If the results are not so good, there will be longlasting damage. Either way I think most LOTR fans will choose to see the movie, but they will be very outspoken if they are disappointed.
