Works for me!

Re: Peter Jackson to make "The Hobbit"

I don't know. I mean, I've read The Silmarillion, but I can't imagine very much of it would mesh well with The Hobbit. After all, it reads more like a book of mythology and not like a novel at all. I can imagine them using some of the material from the books that cover events that happened after The Hobbit, but not the stuff from The Silmarillion except in a very minor way. I love Tolkein, but The Silmarillion was tough. Some of the tales of Middle Earth that were cobbled together after Tolkein's death might work better.

I'd hate to see PJ just stretch things out and make a tourism video for New Zealand, just to get two movies out of the deal. I'd rather have one really good, tight film than two movies that feel bloated and overlong. That being said, I'm confident he won't do that, especially since the material in The Hobbit is so rich and the material that covers the period between the end of that story and the beginning of the trilogy is pretty copious.

Good choices on keeping Peter and getting Guillermo Del Toro

What I meant is that they might take a lot of material from the Silmarillon and incorporate it throughout the films... fleshing them out, so to speak.

Wow... y'all realize that once they put out the extended special editions of both Hobbit Films you could actually OD on LotR? 15+ hours of film will veg-out a T-Rex!
