Re: What Films Did You Watch Today?

I loved Finding Neverland (of course I pretty much love anything that has JD in it). I watched The Happening today. I really enjoyed it although I wish they had cast someone else instead of Mark Wahlberg

Re: What Films Did You Watch Today?

I set my DVR to record Paul Newman films. So far I've seen
The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean

Empire Falls (great movie/mini-series on HBO) loved it. He is great in his role.

The Verdict

Towering Inferno

and I've got Hud, The Hustler and something else on the DVR that I haven't watched.

I figure I've seen Cool Hand Luke, The Sting, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof so many times that I would give the lesser shown ones a try. I haven't seen Hud or the Hustler in years.
There's also a bunch of his early stuff from the late 50's and early 60's coming up.

I miss him. What a great actor.

And I think Empire Falls will be one of my future favorites.

Re: What Films Did You Watch Today?

The latest Harry Potter movie, The Order of the Phoenix. My daughter & I have finished reading the series and watching all the movies made thus far and we're both incredibly excited for the final two films. And bummed that the release of the first of those has been delayed.

Re: What Films Did You Watch Today?

Today's movie was "Failure to Launch". I liked this one, too - but not as much as "How to Lose a Guy". I thought the character/storyline was a bit similar in both movies, so maybe I shouldn't have watched them so close together. And, I liked Kate Hudson better than Sarah Jessica Parker. And come on people, if you HAVE to throw in a "rear shot", couldn't it have been Matthew, instead of Terry Bradshaw? I mean - uh - um - did you HAVE to throw in a rear shot? It wasn't necessary to the story line at all. Yeah, that's it.

Before I went to bed last night, I caught "Christmas Vacation" on one of the cable channels! One of THE funniest movies IMO.....I love Chevy Chase!

It's being remade. The original is a sci-fi classic.

I haven't watched much, but I have seen Hud and Twilight. Both Paul Newman films. Twilight had a LOT of well known actors in it, but it was not great. Susan Sarandon, Gene Hackman, Reese Witherspoon, James Garner and a few others. It was ok, but only just.

Hud of course is a classic and Newman at his most handsome.

Re: What Films Did You Watch Today?

My son and I watched The Happening... meh, it was ok. I wasn't impressed by any of it and I couldn't for the life of me figure out why it deserved an R rating.

Transformers: Our friend loaned this to us and I actually really enjoyed it. Much better than I thought it would be. I underestimated it. Shia was, of course, excellent.
