    Debb,
I enjoyed the Blind Side, but I have to agree with you that it was not stellar.
And, much as I like Sandra, I didn't think it was an Oscar performance.

I watched Everybody's Fine with Robert DeNiro, Drew Barrymore and Kat Beckinsale.
While I thought it was good, overall, I can see why it didn't last too long at the Box Office. It's pretty depressing and hard to watch.

I also picked up The Lovely Bones. I had never rad the book and thought I'd try the movie.
Has anybody seen it who can recommend it?
    Thanks

I've seen the movie and read the book. I thought the movie was well acted and visually beautiful. However, I actually think I would have enjoyed the movie more if I had not read the book. For some one who wanted to do both I would recommend movie first, book second. I enjoyed the book more overall simply because there was more time for character development.

Yes!!! Definitely not the "comedy" I was expecting!

Speaking of comedy however, we watched "Zach and Miri make a Porno" this weekend and while definitely low-brow and predictable, there were some really hysterical parts. Go in with low expectations and expect some sick humor and a fair amount of nudity and you might like it.

I watched Everybody's Fine and liked it okay. It was depressing. All I could is envision was my family going through that. OMG.

The Lovely Bones was okay too. I hated the ending though. Not what I wanted.

I saw My Sister's Keeper. I loved it. I watched it twice. It had great acting and great music. It was much better than The Blind Side IMO. I'm not a Cameron Diaz fan, but she was great in that movie; much better than Sandra in The Blind Side, IMO.

I also rented The Kids Are Fine, with Annette Benning. I liked some of the performances, but I didn't think it was that great of a movie. I hated the ending.

I watched an old movie again recently and it was funnier than ever. Private Parts is a movie that will make you laugh out loud litterally! I laughed so hard my belly hurt. I highly recommend it. NOT for kids though.

I watched "Defending your Life" with Albert Brooks and Meryl Streep. Some of the scenes make me laugh out loud every time I see them.

I also watched "Stranger on a Train" last night on TCM. More plot holes than a slice of swiss cheese.

How funny! My bf and I watched this yesterday, too. It's one of my all-time favorite movies. My mom forced it on my sister and I when we were kids and now we both love it. lol

Ever since the first time I saw this movie (many years ago), I imagine myself - after death - sitting in Heaven, being blond and thin like Meryl Streep, and eating all the pasta I want without worrying about weight gain. What could be more Heavenly?

Waiting for Superman - I didn't realize it before the film started, but I had watched a previous documentary by this same guy on the state of education called The First Year. I thought this one was a better film. It followed a few kids who were young, and good students, but were in districts that fed into middle and high schools that have serious problems. Their parents were all trying to get them into charter schools with a much better record for success. It was very well made and did a good job making its points. It made my cry at the end watching those kids have to go through that lottery process just to try to get a better chance at a good education.

For Colored Girls - This was, by far, the best Tyler Perry movie I have ever seen. It was much less "back to school special for adults with some humor thrown in" than his other films. This was an intense film and the acting was superb. It was really interesting later in the film how they incorporated poetry into the dialog - I am guessing that was carried over from the stage play. I recommend it, but beware that it is not a funny movie. It is difficult to watch in places and you will likely end up in tears.

I saw Paul tonight. I'd been waiting for it for three years and it did not disappoint. It was funny and sweet and had some great sci-fi movie references. We all loved it. But, if you have tiny kids not used to four-letter words, maybe leave them behind. It's not that they're used offensively--it's totally for comedy--but that could be an issue if you don't want your kid to be talking about space man balls etc. Though I will totally be talking about space man balls for at least a week.
