Debbie Allen actually played one of the teachers in it.
Most of the kids were fairly unknown when cast. Irene Cara went on to have a pretty good music career after the movie.

You're very welcome.
You may want to rent it and compare the 2.
I can't comment on the new one, as I've not seen it yet, but the original was a classic and a wonderfully entertaining movie.

Watched "Management" with Jennifer Anniston last night. Could possibly be the most boring movie ever - must've been straight to DVD! Steer clear. :-)

I saw This Is It with my mum...we went up to the theatre right by my house, which used to be a traditional multiplex but is now a 21+ theatre with tables and everything, so you can order real food and a beer or wine with your movie. They have popcorn, yes, but no candy here-instead, you can get fudge cake or apple pie. And they bring the food to you in the theatre. Not to mention, because it is 21+...no kids.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention: AMAZING. This is one I could definitely see a few times. I'm someone who gets very antsy and can't sit still for very long, but this held my attention.
