Re: What Films Did You Watch Today?

My son and I just got finished watching "I am Legend" (again)...Will Smith is a fantastic actor! And once again, my son and I cried with Will and his dog scene!

Re: What Films Did You Watch Today?

It took me a long time to watch I am Legend and I cried as well during that scene. But he was so good in that movie and BFD, yeah, who would have thought he'd be such a great actor after Fresh Prince. But he wasn't bad in that show. I will never forget that that show was on when I was trying to give birth and the dr. was watching it and laughing and I still swear if I could have gotten out of that bed and hit him, I would have!

Re: What Films Did You Watch Today?

My sister pointed out a few years ago that some of our best actors and directors started out as Fresh Prince, Meat Head, Laverne, Opie and Vinnie Barbarino! Who'd'a thunk it??

wow ... interesting observation.

i'll add one to the list ... spicoli in "fast times at ridgemont high". we were just talking sean penn the other day at work ... being amazed how a guy in such a role could end up being the awesome actor (and director) that he is today.

Wow, you guys are right and don't forget Tom Hanks who was in "Bosum Buddies" a short lived tv show, but a funny one.

Re: What Films Did You Watch Today?

I went today to see Frost Nixon. I've always thought that Richard Nixon was one of the most compelling men in history -- a lot of brillance wrapped up in bad to a level that overshadowed the good. This film and this aspect of his story captures those contradictions in his character quite well. Frank Langella's portrayal of him was absolutely brillant. As far as I'm concerned, just as there should be no discussion as to who gets the best supporting actor Oscar (Heath Ledger) there should be no discussion of anyone but Langella getting the best actor Oscar. With a character like Nixon, it's extremely difficult to portray him accurately without is coming across as an impersonation, and he absolutely NAILS it.

Re: What Films Did You Watch Today?

As I posted in "Last Movies You Rented", I watched The Serpent & the Rainbow" and it was a waste of time. I had never seen it so I thought I'd give it shot. 2 hours of my life I will never get back. I thought since it was Wes Craven, it would be great but, alas, I was wrong!

We were going to see Benjamin Button last night but changed to The Day The Earth Stood Still. Hubby got his effects and destruction - I got Keanu. Good enough.
