Beautiful Creatures - a Southern witch tale/romance, filmed not too far from here. I enjoyed it and thought the two young leads were great.

Also Upside Down with Jim Sturgess and Kirsten Dunst, a sci-fi romance. Don't pay too much attention to the particulars of the story and you might enjoy it more.

I watched Beautiful Creatures yesterday and found I liked it much better than the book. I only got so far in the book before boredom set in, but the film kept my attention - probably because they shortened many of the scenes.

I went to see The Wolf of Wall Street today and it was fantastic! I was a little worried about a three hour movie going in. But it sucks you in and keeps the action going throughout. The only way I knew it was three hours at the end was that I ran out of my large coke!

Awesome, thanks for the review Accoker, I want to see Wolf of Wall Street next!

Just saw American Hustle and I really liked it. Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence were outstanding and I was thoroughly entertained. Fun to see all the 70s style too! Bradley Cooper and Christian Bale were almost unrecognizable in their 70s getups. I think Christian Bale put on a ton of weight for the part. Definitely 2 thumbs up overall!

My GF went to see Wolf of Wall Street , she said it was 3 hours long( one hour too many) graphic sex scenes that reminded her of porn. I was looking forward to it as well, now, not so much it dropped from second place at the box office to 7th I think. I guess we all like different things. I will rent it i think

I kept telling myself, "Just one more episode then I'm taking the dogs to the park." Told myself that eight times one Saturday. You'll might as well just surrender with season 4.

Fanny Mare, the movie certainly earned its R rating. There is nudity, though I don't think as much as a movie like Eyes Wide Shut. I think a comparison to porn is a big exaggeration. IMO, Scorcesses managed to be honest and realistic about what was happening without being gratuitously graphic. If they story had people naked or using drugs, he showed it. But he didn't leave the shot on those things for so long that it was about showing naked people instead of telling the story.

Chasing Madoff. It's the story of Harry Markopolis, a former Boston securities analyst who first discovered Madoff's Ponzi scheme and tried for years to blow the whistle on him. Great story! I've probably watched it three times now since it came out in 2011. It's such an unbelievable dereliction of duties for the people at the Securities Exchange who refused to listen to him for years because they were afraid of Madoff. There are touching scenes from people who lost everything from Madoff's evil, cruel schemes to enrich himself at their expense.

As much greed as Wolf of Wall Street, without the nudity and drunken revelry. :>)

I just watched the movie Prisoners with Jake Gyllenhaal, Hugh Jackman, and Viola Davis. It's a 2013 movie I got it On Demand with Showtime, I think. I wasn't that wild about it. I have severals questions about it too. I'd like to discuss if anyone else has seen it. The acting was really good, but the script never came together, IMO.
