    The Conjuring C+

next up is Odd Thomas, loved the Dean Koontz book so I have high hopes for this movie.

Odd Thomas is now a movie? I checked Netflix and didn't see it. That is such a quirky and oddly moving book, I, too, hope they can do it justice.

I recently watched Superman (the new one) and wasn't impressed until the last scenes.

    Elysium is coming up.

This morning I watched Swing Kids on Showtime. I haven't watched it in years, but it was good as I remember. Starring Christian Bale and Robert Sean Leonard. Looking at those actors now, 20 years later, I never would have guessed what good dancers they were! The movie is set in pre-WW2 Germany with jazz loving, jitterbugging youth rebelling against Nazism.

It's pretty addictive, isn't it? I binge-watched with the blinds down every weekend in August. Didn't have company because I wanted to be alone with the show. Let us know when you start going through withdrawals. ;-)

I watched "Beasts of the Southern Wild"! Wow, that was sad and intense. The acting is amazing.

The little girl playing "Hushpuppy" deserved that Oscar nom.

(It was either on HBO or SHOW).

The Heat..... I found it predictable, but I thought Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy had great chemistry.

I just recently saw Now You See Me. I really liked it - and I didn't figure out the ending, which doesn't happen very often. I should have, but I didn't. So if you like those kind of movies that keep you guessing as to how it all plays out, I highly recommend it. I sort of compare it to Ocean's Eleven - just in that I knew it would work out and they would get away with it, but until they went back through and showed you how they did it, I hadn't figured it out.

The Big Year. (2011) Two thumbs way up for this comedy about competitive bird watching. Every time a new face appeared on screen my jaw dropped as the cast is stuffed full of terrific character actors and leading actors. The three main are played by Steve Martin, Jack Black and Owen Wilson; but the supporting characters are all very recognizable. The movie is well edited and tells a good story.

    Highly recommended.
