Critical - did you notice Ali in her minor character role in Blue Jasmin?

I've ramped up my Netflix DVD account to three at a time (again) and watched an old favorite, The Adjustment Bureau, and the newbie, Side Effects. With Side Effects, I was disappointed the theme turned from the disease to the scam, but with CZJ in the cast, she couldn't be some minor character in the beginning. What I like about The Adjustment Bureau is the possibility of puppet strings with a little free will thrown in. Always beware or people in hats .
She was hard to miss! She didn't do great, but she wasn't conspicuously bad either.

Parental Guidance. I laughed, I teared up, it was just what I needed today - a light comedy with a bit of a struggle.

I'm blasting my way through season 2 of Bomb Girls, one of my guilty pleasures. I started watching this afternoon and I'm on episode 10 of 12. LOVE this show! I'm so happy to see Tahmoh Penikett this season. I loved him on Dollhouse.

Today, for the first time ever, I watched Fatal Attraction. Maybe I haven't seen enough movies lately, but I thought it was a pretty damn good movie.

Up until maybe the last few minutes, it was mostly perfect, although I didn't enjoy the sex scenes between Dan and Alex early on.

I thought the acting was definitely great and I loved the ongoing plot.

Could I relate to any of the characters? Unfortunately, kind of. I could imagine myself in Alex's shoes and we may have had a couple (non-murderous) traits in common. I am open about it. I have my own problems.

Now, I said "perfect up until the last few minutes" because I didn't get, for example, how Alex got into their house when Dan's wife was getting ready to take her bath. The "drowning" scene with the jump scare and immediate shot to the chest was kind of corny, in my opinion.

But overall yes I did love it. I got the "accomplished" feeling near the end. "Accomplished" as in, happy that I managed to find and watch a great movie.

    I'd give it a rating of 4.5 / 5. If I had to round to a whole, I'd give it a 5.

Re: What Films Did You Watch Today?

Finally saw Zero Dark Thirty. Thoroughly disliked it, and I went in expecting it to be great. I won't go into the politics of why I disliked it (that's a topic for another thread and I'm afraid once I get started I won't be able to stop). It was way too long, I hated Jason Clarke - I kept thinking it was like watching Seth Rogen trying to do a dramatic role - was annoyed at the CIA jargon that I guess we were supposed to understand (WTF is a "Black Site"? I guess I don't play enough video games or read enough Tom Clancy novels) and I got very bored of constantly having to look at Jessica Chastain's duck-lipped frown. I was ticked that Harold Perrineau and James Gandolfini got next to no screen time, because I consider them easily the best actors in the cast. The only thing I got excited about was when I realized the character of Jessica was being played by Jennifer Ehle (OMG those eyebrows!).

I was disappointed. I really liked The Hurt Locker, but this one was a big miss for me.

I agree , Zero Dark Thirty was a let down, so much hype. I also really liked The Hurt Locker.

I will join in the disappointed by Zero Dark Thirty bandwagon. It was like they were so excited to show off about CIA info they had that they forgot about telling a compelling story.

I didn't think Zero Dark Thirty quite lived up to the hype, but my husband and I still thought is was a good film. I thought it did a good job in the respect that it wasn't a "rah rah look how great the US is" kind of movie - it had scenes that made the US look pretty despicable (for good reason). I thought the torture stuff was really hard to stomach.

I'm about to watch Total Recall with Arnold. I'll give my thoughts afterwards. It's a movie I haven't seen in a very long time.
