Shrek the Third

Sorry if there's another thread for this movie--I couldn't find one! (I also don't have the talent to post a screencap and quote a blurb from the movie...)

I saw Shrek the Third on the weekend and was actually disappointed. I LOVED the first two--thought they were hilarious and ingenious. But the third seemed disjointed, rushed and most of the funny moments seemed very forced...unlike the first two where the funniest parts fit seamlessly with the story. All the main characters are back, of course, but the writers obviously didn't put as much thought into this story as they have in the past.

I read somewhere that Eddie Murphy knew the third installment wasn't up to the same standard as the first two but it would make money based on reputation alone.

Overall I'd give this movie 2.5/5

I'm with you on this, Spoose. My daughter loved it, but to me it was just meh. It just seemed like they threw it together without any thought.

Re: Shrek the Third

We went Sunday to see it. My little guy, who normally sits through a whole movie, got restless about 2/3 of the way in. I thought it was cute and there were some funny parts, but it definitely isn't as good as the first two. I did like the ending where they showed the babies. They were adorable!

Re: Shrek the Third

There were some really slow parts, but I often get bored in kids' movies. I try to have someone else take mine, but sometimes it's my turn.

It wasn't absolutely horrible, but it was more of a chore when I remember really laughing at the first Shrek.

Also, it was one of those movies where the best 3 seconds or so were covered in the trailer. I hate that!

Re: Shrek the Third

My kiddies loved it, and even the 4-year-old sat through it without wanting to dash up and down the aisles. I thought it wasn't bad, but the humour sure wasn't up to the standards set in the first two films. Though I loved Snow White's character. Actually, I thought the addition of the other princesses was the best part.

Re: Shrek the Third

Def. my least favorite of the Shrek films. It had its moments but certainly didn't have the zingers that the first one had. I saw it less than a week ago and already have forgotten most of it. It was simply "okay" in my book. Not bad, but not great either. While the introduction of the princesses was nice, it just didn't bring the same magic that the introduction of puss in boots did for Shrek 2. I do ,however, feel like Shrek 4 could be great if they utilize the three little baby ogres and donkey's children in the storyline.

Judging from the reviews, people here are saying it is the worst one. I was going to go and see it, but now I am going to wait until it comes out on DVD.
