The publicist's statement is very exact, and for a reason. It's to protect her employer's image.

"Kim Basinger did not release the voicemail." All that's missing is the second half of the sentence. "I did as her representative." or perhaps "her attorney did as her representative." One or the other. Followed up by the oh so revealing "the voicemail was not sealed under a court order" portion of the statement, which face it... was a pretty obvious ass-covering thing to end with.

Having a lackey do it, so there could be a little bit of deniability doesn't change the situation at all.

The situation is .... he verbally abused his daughter, to the point where it's even questionable if he was threatening physical violence.
That's the situation.

Re: Alec Baldwin's phone meltdown

Okay, apparently one of Rosie O'Donnell's last acts on The View will be to interview Alec.

Frankly that's making him look worse in my eyes, not better.

I just read he asked out of his contract with NBC to work on this situation but NBC said no.

I'm surprised! I would have thought NBC would love to distance themselves from him at this point.

Re: Alec Baldwin's phone meltdown

I'm such a cynic. My thought was - publicity move. "I'd love to spend more time with my child, but my hands are tied..." He doesn't have to alter his life and the network takes it on the chin for him, citing legal (ratings) reasons. Heck, he could even be lying about the network saying "no".

I suppose since they wrangled and did everything they could to keep 30 Rock going they aren't just going to let him go.
