| I watched part of an interview done by Catherine Crier with Krista Barth today, and while I understand what both of them were doing -- Catherine was pushing Krista to explain Howard's role as an enabler to Anna's use of prescription drugs, and Krista was doing her best defense lawyer schtick -- there was something about the whole exchange that bothered me. Catherine is a seasoned trial attorney (I think she was also a prosecutor, but not sure) and she knows what lawyers do and why they do it. So she insisted on Krista giving a direct answer to her direct questions. Which is fine ... except she didn't do that with John O'Quinn yesterday. Her style was noticably different with each of them. O'Quinn consistently made not so subtle statements to imply -- not outright accuse, because he's too good a lawyer to do that -- that Howard was responsible for Anna's death, but Catherine never called him on what he was doing. She did ask O'Quinn what evidence he had for his statements, and he answered without giving any concrete facts, and she let it go at that, instead of holding him accountable for his statements as she did with Krista. I have to wonder if the double standard in the way she's treating the attorneys in this case has to do with Catherine's bias against HKS. She's certainly entitled to her opinion about him, but if O'Quinn's playing a shell game with his answers, he deserves the same treatment as given to a lawyer for the other side who does the same thing. To be fair, I've also seen Nancy Grace do this. She'll be rude and cut off a lawyer for someone she obviously doesn't like, and then let an attorney for the opposing side say what they want. I guess these shows aren't required to be "fair and balanced" in the way they discuss these cases, but it just seems unprofessional to me. I'd rather the hosts leave out any favoritism and do hard-hitting interviews with all the attorneys. I don't give a damn what the host's personal bias may be, I can reach my own conclusions based on what I'm seeing and hearing. |

| Apparently, Catherine Crier, at age 29, was the youngest elected state judge in Texas. She stayed in that position for 5 years, before leaving to work at 20/20, and then Fox News. Interesting.

| Proshay, thanks for that background info on Catherine. Since she was a judge, you'd think she'd be especially interested in treating all the attornies on her show the same way. Re Anna's diaries: this is from the item description on the E-Bay link provided in the TMZ article: Quote:
These diaries are the same ones I posted about a few pages ago, when the rep from Universal Rarities was talking about them on Fox News and mentioned one of the entries that describes Anna getting drunk with her mom. According to that TMZ article, a wealthy German businessman who's a long-time ANS fan bought the diaries, but I wonder if he'll sell any of the entries that the tabloids would love to publish. I hope not. It would be nice if one person in this mess was only hoping to have something of hers rather than trying to exploit her in some way. | |

| There have already been several of her diary entries that have made it on the news. For some reason they're dissecting her comment that she didn't like sex as if it's a recent comment and they're (the news) trying to analyze what that could possibly mean ... conveniently leaving out the fact that they're 15 years old.

| Yep, there's already some stuff from the diaries "out there," as indicated by this information, also from the item description on E-Bay. Quote:

| On Catherine Crier today: Leaked information! ANS died of a raging infection in her buttock from a dirty needle. Abscess. Lethal drug overdose of chloral hydrate (sleeping medication), class 4 controlled substance. No one knows who gave her the injection. Date rape drug. Vets use it on animals. Don't know how she got the drug. "Personal assistant" states he witnessed her getting injections from Stern in the past, but doesn't know if he gave her this. Septicemia. She should have been in the hospital for supportive care, possible respiratory support, IV antibiotics, etc. Don't know why she would have this drug. Drug was given in the Bahamas, and infection was setting up while she was coming to Florida, thus the 105 degree temperature. Had scarring on buttock that indicated other injections have been given. Won't know until Monday if Dr. Perper is going to rule suicide, accidental overdose, or just what. Howard K. still has not filed an appeal to the paternity test, as of today. Doesn't look like inquest into Daniel's death will start until Tuesday, due to Anna drama on Monday. Birkhead has trademarked the phrase, "Goodnight, my sweet Anna, baby". Good Grief! ![]()
