| Catch & Release - 1/26/07 I saw a commercial for this the other day and can't wait to see it! Jennifer Garner stars in Columbia Pictures' romantic comedy-drama Catch and Release, from writer-director Susannah Grant, an Academy Award® nominee for her screenplay for Erin Brockovich. After the sudden death of her fiancé, Gray Wheeler (Garner) finds comfort in the company of his friends: lighthearted and comic Sam (Kevin Smith), hyper-responsible Dennis (Sam Jaeger), and, oddly enough, his old childhood buddy Fritz (Timothy Olyphant), an irresponsible playboy whom she'd previously pegged as one of the least reliable people in the world. As secrets about her supposedly perfect fiancé emerge, Gray comes to see new sides of the man she thought she knew, and at the same time, finds herself drawn to the last man she ever expected to fall for. --© Sony Pictures |

| I saw the preview for this one a while back and it looked cute. Not brain surgery, but a nice romantic comedy.

| Saw Jennifer on Jay Leno last night, promoting the movie. It looks adorable so I may drag the bf to go see it, lol! I have to say, does she not look a little skinny these days? Maybe its me, but she had a figure that I wanted while doing Alias, but now she is looking a little stick like these days. |

| You know, I know that she worked out like crazy during ALIAS and had a gorgeous figure (that was also muscular). I know what you mean--I would've killed to look like that. It seems like after having her baby, she probably was anxious to lose the weight...but she's probably not working out like crazy anymore so she's thin, but not ripped like she used to be. I hope she doesn't buy into that whole Hollywood drama of having to be a stick to be considered "attractive." |

| Yes, i am a super lame fangirl, but I want to see this movie simply because Kevin Smith is in it. And I love Kevin Smith.

| I also saw a preview for this right after Christmas, and thought it looked like some good light-hearted fare. I adore the quirky style of Juliette Lewis, and would enjoy seeing her interact with Jennifer Garner. ![]() | |

Every time I see the commercial for this I think the guy is Barry Watson instead of Timothy Olyphant. I really like Jennifer Garner, so I will probably enjoy this, even though it doesn't seem like a conventional romantic comedy because, really, what romantic comedy starts off with the fiancee dying? (Oh, crap, I just thought of Jersey Girl, starring Jennifer Garner's real-life husband, Ben Affleck. Well, that wasn't such a bad movie, I guess. Anyhow, must stop going off on tangents). Kevin Smith, (who directed Jersey Girl - tangent!) who plays one of Jen's buddies, looks like he'll be injecting some nice comedic (strictly friends-based) filler, along with the other guy meant to be Jen's friend (whose name I don't know).

| Okay.... all that I will say tonight is RUN, RUN, RUN to see this movie. All of you will greatly enjoy it for all of the reasons that you've indicated above. Catch and Release is not a comedy, but it is incredibly comedic at all of the right moments. Jennifer Garner is her sweet, endearing self as the tortured fiancee that discovers that she really didn't know the man she was about to marry as much as she thought she did. At the same time, however, she finds that she didn't know HERSELF as well as she thought, either, nor did she share as much of herself with her fiance as she should have. It is so sweet to see the way her fiancee's friends (Kevin Smith...adorable, Sam Jaeger... absolutely wonderful, and Timothy Olyphant... freaking HOT) take her under their wing and take care of her. They are all that you could want out of great guy friends. Nearly as much fun as watching the movie was listening to the reaction of the audience. I'd be surprised if I didn't hear all of you experience the same thing... the laughter, the gasps, the "awwwwww"s. ![]() Major two thumbs up! No, it's no award winner and it's not intended to be, but I'll be going back to see this a second time in the theater.. a rarity for me. |
