I always wonder how much for certain award shows are based on actually being deserving for a nomination and how much is towards the popularity and publicity said person would garner for being nominated. To me, the SAG awards seem much more geared towards being deserving and whomever wins in a category should win. Where as the Golden Globes seems slightly more geared towards which people will draw the most viewers in and cause the most 'uproar' about the ceremony.

I saw a program on the Golden Globes once and apparently getting nominated and winning have a lot to do with who wines and dines the members of the Hollywood Foreign Press. Film companies also do a lot of campaigning for the Oscars, with full page ads and press tours for nominated films and actors.

I heard about this, too, and I'm disappointed. I knew there was no chance that Beyonce would get Best Actress since she is going up against Helen Mirren who has been getting so much praise from the critics. And Beyonce really wants and Oscar. So I thought Best Song was her category, but then she gets DQed.

But then again, I also heard it from MTV, and so far that's the only source that says this is true. Until I hear it from Yahoo! or another more reliable source, I'll believe it fully.
