, though there are three excellent ones.I do hope this does well for Mr. Estevez. He's actually a pretty decent director, though apparently not one whose work appeals to the masses. His writing - well, there been some bad, some good, so we'll see.

| Yep, duffers are the dodgy actors ( I'm looking at you, Miss Lohan). I saw Emilio on Leno last night and he made me want to see the movie even more. He said he had writer's block for about a year while he was trying to write the script and took his brother's advice to get away from his normal surroundings for a while. He ended up in a motel about 150 miles from L.A. and was talking to the woman on reception and told her he was trying to write this movie and she was actually in the Ambassador hotel when Kennedy was shot. She told him her story and he wrote it into the movie as Lindsay Lohan storyline. | |

![]() I was disappointed to hear she was in the movie, but I think William H Macy and Anthony Hopkins have enough talent to neutralize her negative effect on the movie. I unfortunately didn't get to see ther full Leno interview, but Estevez was also saying that he was all but on the breadline trying to get the money together to make this movie and got the actors to agree to work for nothing. I imagine they're all in for a share of the profits, but as I say I didn't get to see that part ![]() | |

| The entire cast was on Larry King Live over the weekend. It often repeats up to a few days later, so, if you try you might catch the episode. They told the story about Emilio's writer's block. It was in Pismo Beach he holed up to write the rest of the script, at his brother Charlie's advice. (Well, he just said, change scenery if you're blocked.) On the LKL show, Sharon Stone kind of kept interrupting everyone...she plays a manicurist in the movie. They showed clips from the film. Demi Moore played a pretty convincing "sloppy drunk". But then her mom was supposedly alcoholic and Demi supposedly had a tumultuous childhood. I believe her character's name is even Virginia, which was her mother's name. Hmm. Emilio said everyone worked for "scale plus ten" which means union scale plus ten percent. That's what total unknowns usually work for. He said it was a labor of love for everyone, or words to that effect. Christian Slater plays a mean boss at The Ambassador. The LKL show also had Rosie Grier, who actually wrestled the gun out of Sirhan Sirhan's hand...and then cradled Bobby Kennedy's head as he lay dying, a rosary in his hand. The show also had two people who were shot as the bullets flew. One had been shot in the head, one in the stomach. Both survived, astonishingly, without major injuries. It's sad to me that so many today may not even realise Bobby Kennedy's legacy. I know all the bad stories about the Kennedy men too, (as I'm a Marilyn Monroe fan...I'll leave that story alone here) but, politically they did try and do some good. |

| I'm really excited to see this movie too. It looks like a great ensemble cast that actually works well together and doesn't try to outshine each other. I'm excited to see Joshua Jackson in this movie too. He's a good actor who I've definitely liked since Dawson's Creek and I think that this is a great role for him and his career. (Like a lot of the actors) |

| Re: Bobby - 11/17 After all the hype over the cast, and then the terrible reception I wasn't expecting much from this film but I ended up really enjoying it! This is going to surprise people but I actually think this should have taken the best picture award for 2006, I enjoyed it much more than Little Miss Sunshine, The Departed and especially Babel. Perhaps it was because my expectations were so low but this really impressed me. Demi Moore and Emilio Estevez (in terms of directing) were wonderful. ![]() |

| Re: Bobby - 11/17 Saw this movie when it came out in theatres. I didn't think it was as bad as all the critics were saying but it in no way deserved to be nominated for a Golden Globe. 7.5/10

| Re: Bobby - 11/17 Is this movie out on DVD now? I thought it was, went to Hollywood Video last night to rent it, and there was no sign of it. It wasn't on the shelves, wasn't in the "new releases" listing, and wasn't on the "coming soon" listing. Did I totally misunderstand the DVD release date, or is Hollywood Video just pretending it doesn't exist? |
