Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan

Is anyone else looking forward to this movie opening? From everything I've seen and read about it is hilarious.

I don't know if I'll go see it in the theater, or wait for the DVD, but I'm looking forward to it! I think that Sascha Baron Cohen is absolutely brillant with the characters he's created. I agree with what Entertainment Weekly said about what does and does not work with his characters - the Ali G movie didn't work because the source of his comedy isn't the characters - it's the way that people react to them thinking they're real.

I just hope that once he's done the Bruno movie, he comes up with some equally brillant characters since the gig will be up with all three he has going now.

I read elsewhere about someone at a small station who got fired for believing this guy was really a representative of Kazakhstan and having him on a show. So not always fun and games.

I could not stand the Ali G character but maybe this one is funny. I won't be watching it in the movies though and probably only on dvd if someone else in my family rents it.

Sorry, but I had to look this up to post.

Basic plot: Kazakhstani TV personality Borat is dispatched to the United States to report on the "greatest country in the world." With a documentary crew in tow, Borat becomes more interested in locating and marrying Pamela Anderson than on his assignment.

Sounds hilarious, politically incorrect with the must-have inclusion of a blonde with boobs. (except she is Canadian, not American ).

I think my sweetie would love this. I'll wait for it in a cheapie theatre though.

I desperately want to see it. I hope come Friday it'll be released here. Anyone else simply thrilled it made 24.6 million in only appx 800 theatres? I think that is fantastic and it truly shows how great this movie is.

I've seen the preview clips and until relatively recently I didn't have any idea who Borat even was. Even without knowing, the clips were too hillarious to ignore. Can't wait to see it!

Me too. I read that it made about $34K per theatre and the second place movie made about $2K per theatre if that gives you an idea of how many people went to see it. I wanted to go this weekend but never got around to it, probably next for sure.

You'd certainly stand out on a beach wearing one:
