| Bringing Down the House - 03/07 Bringing Down the House (2003) Synopsis: Peter Sanderson is a divorced, straight-laced, uptight attorney who still loves his ex-wife and can't figure out what he did wrong to make her leave him. However, Peter's trying to move on, and he's smitten with a brainy, bombshell barrister he's been chatting with online. However, when she comes to his house for their first face-to-face, she isn't refined, isn't Ivy League, and isn't even a lawyer. Instead, it's Charlene, a prison escapee who's proclaiming her innocence and wants Peter to help her clear her name. But Peter wants nothing to do with her, prompting the loud and shocking Charlene to turn Peter's perfectly ordered life upside down, jeopardizing his effort to get back with his wife and woo a billion dollar client. In the end, our unlikely pair has the chance to put each other's lives on higher ground--if they don't end up bringing down the house. | I think Eugene Levy has the best part in this movie, looking at the trailers. | |

| I agree John! He's hysterical! I also like Steve Martin and Queen Latifah. It looks like this might be one of those good funny movies.

| Steve Martin is pretty funny most of the time. I really didn't know it was Queen Latifah until I saw the trailer about 6 times. But I crack up every time I see Eugene Levy trying to get down with it. They've got 4 or 5 different commercials, and he's saying something really stupid and funny in all of them. | |

| Sounds like the typical ethnic comedy. With the typical sterotyp upty White Guy getting to know a African American. Then by the end of the movie he has learned to be cool and they become friends. This one may be better with Steve Martin, but will probably be like the rest a few funny parts that you have seen already in the commercial. I will wait till cable |

| It looks hilarious. I can't help but laugh when Levy says "you got me straight trippin' Boo". ![]()

| We went & saw it last weekend. I thought they might have shown all the funny parts in the preview & that it wouldn't be very funny, but I was WRONG! It was really funny. There were tons of funny parts. We went to see it with another couple that we are friends with. They are black, & they also thought it was hilarious. They were not offended by it at all. And really it's the white people in the movie that are silly anyway. The theater was packed & everyone was cracking up so much that we even missed some of the dialogue b/c of all the laughing. I love going to see a movie that's full & has a lively audience.
