    Trust the Man

Does anyone else plan on seeing this? It's a "dramedy" starring David Duchovny, Julianne Moore, Billy Crudup, and Maggie Gyllenhaal, and the previews look really promising. I'm excited on so many levels about this one, mainly because I happen to think David Duchovny is the hottest man alive. Also, as a die-hard X-Phile, it's nice to see him (and Gillian, of course) getting some post-show recognition. I'm also very excited about seeing David and Julianne Moore team up again, with a tad bit more to work with than the fun but blatant silliness that was Evolution. I love it how David plays a sex addict, as there were some rumours circulating about his constant womanizing (and Mulder's addiction to porn to boot! ) back in the 90's, before he married Tea Leoni.

I haven't heard anything about a European premiere for Trust the Man yet, so if any of my American FORTers have seen it, let me know how you liked it. I always love a romantic comedy in the fall.

I haven't seen it, Geek, but it got a really bad review in the paper this past weekend. Unfortunately some of the most scathing comments were directed at Duchovny and Crudup. The woman apparently acquitted themselves well.

FYI, the director is Julianne Moore's husband.

Really? Aw, too bad. I want David to do well post-X-Files. Still, I've heard favourable things about it from other reviewers, and I'll definitely watch it regardless. Like I said earlier, I even enjoyed Evolution just because David was in it!

I know! I was watching David Duchovny (or the Duchov, as we like to call him ) on The Tonight Show the other night, and he was telling some really funny anecdotes about shooting the film. Apparently, not only did Julianne Moore's husband, Bart Freundlich, write and direct Trust the Man - their son Cal has a small part in it. His big scene includes punching poor Duchov in the balls. Ouch.

By the way, I love that Garry Shandling is in this. X-Philes will already know why this is funny, but to the rest of you: in an episode of The X-Files, Mulder and Scully are turned into characters in a movie. Tea Leoni, David's wife, plays Scully and Garry Shandling gets the part or Mulder, much to Mulder's dismay.

Right, I'll go be geeky offline now.

As you absolutely should. I didn't let the reviewers keep me away from Maximum Overdrive, and I was lucky enough to be one of the two people in the world who actually liked it (Mr. Rattus was the other one) .

Geek - DD also guest starred on Garry's The Larry Sanders Show as himself and played like he had a thing for Larry. He came on to Larry at every commercial break, flirting and laying on the sexual innuendo. It was hilarious!

I saw some not-so-great reviews as well, but I might go see it anyway since I like all four of the leads.
