I LOVED Chicago- It was 10 times better than that lame Moulin Rouge- anyway. It will probably win Best Picture. It is the only upbeat movie nominated- everything else is so heavy and depressing- the last couple best pics were depressing flicks so this will be the year a movie like Chicago. The Hours was just too dang BORING!. If you ever have the chance to take the time to read the libretto. Renee Zellweger and Catherine Zeta Jones are the right ages so they were cast perfectly for those roles. The way Richard Gere played Billy Flynn was better than I have ever seen everyone else who's played that role. As a matter of fact, this was based on a real trial in the 1920's.
In my opinion, the Hours bored me- there were some good performances but I don't think that it will win anything.
Gangs of New York- Scorsese did a good job,Daniel Day Lewis was excellent but there were some people were miscast
    ie Cameron Diaz. imo

    the reason I posted this - everyone I know - friends, family - co-workers
LOVED this. I don't know if it was my mood or what. I'm going to see it on DVD (long wait) and I think I may like it.
I agree about Cameron Diaz. I did not like her in that role at all.
There seemed to be zero chemistry between her and Leo. Daniel Day was awesome.
Catherine Zeta I love and thought her and Renee were both great.
Some of my friends want to see it and I may go again.
Just gotta find a cinema that doesn't smell around here!!
    Cajro!
I LOVE Moulin Rouge. It's one of those movies that seems to be people love it or hate it.
I thought Nicole Kidman was amazing! And Ewan M. <-yummy
    to each his/her own
So, where's the Cannes Film Festival being held this year?

Fluff, it looks now like momentum is gaining for her to win the Oscar as well (though Nicole Kidman is widely regarded as the front-runner still)...

I have no desire to see it at all .... never saw Moulan Rouge either.

I am not anti-musical, just most don't seem to be my cup of tea.

Yep, she took home a SAG award lsat night too.

I think she played the role well, but to me it wasn't an Oscar winning performance

I know there are a lot of fans of the movie, but it looked like a steaming pile of crap to me.

I just saw the making of Moulin Rouge ....again. I've seen it several times.
I am addicted to that movie.

People can't understand me not liking Chicago (mostly it seems older people) like my aunts / my mother

I can't understand anyone not liking LOVING M.R
