    King Arthur

Just got home from seeing this movie and I'll have to admit, I really enjoyed it.

KA is definitely a Braveheart/Gladiator wannabe that doesn't quite live up to the storyline of the aforementioned films. I know critics have mentioned that there is no character development in KA and they are right, but... to be fair this isn't a character driven movie. I think Fuqua and Bruckheimer assume that most people know the characters and therefore they give us a war romp.

It's fun... and I honestly think it beats "Troy" in it's enjoyment factor. And what's not to love (and drool over) but Arthur, Lancelot, and Dagonet (a surprise hottie!)

Typical Bruckheimer fare. Example (won't ruin the movie)... there's a scene where the gates of the great wall are being opened and Arthur is going to ride thru. The gates open and all you see is smoke for about 5-10 seconds before Arthur turns the corner and glamorously appears. Bruckheimer at his best.

Enjoy the movie.. but don't go in expecting Oscar fare.

I might check it out. Medieval times and Roman movies drawn me in for some reason.

I enjoyed the movie a lot . It isnt fantastic but is was still good. Rate it 8 out of 10. I must say it was much better than Troy heh. Lancelot is quite handsome&witty and Guinevere is just straight out HOTT

I heard they've removed all the mysticism and magic. Sacrilige! I loved the Mists of Avalon and Excalibur.

Yes, Merlin's role was pretty limited as they focused on the knights.

Ugh, I went with some friends to see this today and I personally found that without the mysticism and magic it also lost all the majesty of Arthurian legend. Just a bunch of cliched action sequences, and incredibly corny writing. Keira Knightley looks great, though, I loved her tough warrior version of Guinevere. But you know, it was so bad we got our money back from the manager, seriously. Don't waste your time.

Wow... that's the first I've heard someone vehemently disliking it. I guess if you're very tied into the Mists of Avalon series, Excalibur and the like.. then you would be disappointed by the lack of mysticism.

snickers.... Our theater was packed on Wednesday night. People seemed to enjoy the movie.. even the corny parts.

JMO, but I think the only time anyone should demand their money back is when there's a problem with the movie theater/film breaks, etc. Punishing the theater itself because you didn't like a movie.. that's not their fault. That would be like buying a book at a bookstore and then taking it back demanding your money back because you don't like it. That's the risk you take.

Whoa, way to make me feel guilty, Broadway.

For what it's worth the manager was completely nice, and he was the one who offered to give us our money back, we didn't actually "demand" it. I had jokingly asked him for "two hours of my life back," but I wasn't about to turn the money down.
