You guys should really see Ringu. It's pretty scary. There are some similarities between it and the American version. There'll be some unexpected scares too. Don't watch it late at night though. That was my mistake.

I'm sure it's scary. I can't wait to see it!

Have any of you read the book that the movies The Ring, Ringu, and Ring Virus (the Korean adaptation) are based on? I have, and it's awesome.

I rented Finding Nemo. I loved it, but forgot to return it. I went to return it two days late on Christmas Eve, and asked the guy how much I owed. He said "It's Christmas, don't worry about it". How wonderful!

I watched Blackhawk Down last night. It was pretty intense, but a very interesting movie. A little long, though.

I got to watch several movies this weekend that I had been wanting to see for a while. I finally got to see Bowling for Columbine, which was an excellent documentary. I highly recommend it. I also finally saw Life is Beautiful. Also excellent. We also rented Identity. I hated the ending. I felt like they could have done so much more with it. I also picked up this documentary called Murder on a Sunday Morning. I'd never heard of it before, but it sounded interesting. And it was. I was fascinated by it. If you like Law & Order or crime-drama shows, you'll like this. I couldn't believe though, the shoddy police work. I hope this is the exception & not the norm in our legal system.

I absolutely loved Bowling for Collumbine as well holly, and Life Is Beautiful was a truly beautiful (very sad-as an understatement) movie. Roberto Benigni did an excellent job with it.

I loved the cinematography in Life is Beautiful.

I rented The Bourne Identity and Pirates of the Carribean this weekend and liked them both. I could have done without the undead pirates stuff in PotC, but otherwise it was cute, and with Bourne Identity, it reminded me of why I like Matt Damon. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't, but I liked Matt in that.

i rented WHITE OLEANDER, i was a little disappointed, the book is so excellent and a book i would recommend to anyone. if i was an english teacher, i would make my students read it. the movie though, didn't work out as well. the whole thing needed to be narrated by the main character to really work i think like the book did.

Spellbound (2003)

I was a nerdy kid who loved spelling, and perhaps that's why I'm both attracted to and repulsed by Spellbound, a documentary tracking the odyssey of a few deeply nerdy and in some cases incredibly neurotic kids who are on their way to Washington D.C. to compete in the National Spelling Bee championships.

Surprisingly compelling and funny, in addition to heartfelt, Spellbound is one of several great documentaries in the recent past that have been released nationwide to great acclaim (along with Capturing the Friedkins (2003) and Bowling for Columbine) (2002).
