I just watched the documentary God is the Bigger Elvis about actress Dolores Hart and her decision to become a nun. It was an interesting and touching glimpse into the cloistered life and her decision to leave Hollywood behind. Highly recommended.

The Evil Dead remake. Nothing like the fabulously campy Bruce Campbell originals - this is a gorefest that earns its R rating. Not only is it less fun, it's not that great...though fans of the '80's movies will find some of the references to the originals worth a chuckle.

Over the weekend I revisited Babe, the film about the talking pig. It came out in the mid-90s when my oldest son was just a toddler. I adore this film. The entire look and feel of the movie is unlike any other children's film I have seen.

Babe is an excellent movie. I saw it as an adult and was surprised as to how much I loved it.

Wow, am I dense - I didn't see this two posts above mine until just now. I could have just liked your post. Agree wholeheartedly.

I haven't seen this movie. Do you really mean "heroin" or "heroine"??

ETA: I'm usually not nitpicky about this stuff, but in this case it will give me two completely different perspectives of what might be going on in this movie!!

Actually both, the "heroine" who was on actual heroin.

Melancholia: I mostly liked this - it was beautifully shot - but I found it really hard to like Kirsten Dunst's character. I know she suffered from heavy depression, but damn. Who cheats on Alex Skarsgard five minutes after marrying him?

And also watched Beasts of the Southern Wild. Very different, liked it a lot. I was in tears at the end.

We watched The Virgin suicides yesterday. What a weird depressing movie.
