Atonement. I could definitely see why this movie had gotten so many nominations. Keira Knightley did a great job, but Vanessa Redgrave, in a very small role, is just brilliant.

Re: Last Movies You Have Rented

Rachel Getting Married - Slow moving, but interesting portrait of a family dealing with addiction and tragedy. Anne Hathaway did do a good job in a role that is definitely a departure from what she has done in the past. The ending kind of left me hanging. I didn't really expect complete resolution since recovery is an ongoing process, but I was left not really sure what direction the main character was headed in...

Balls Out: I just couldn't get into it. It took me forever to finish it. Sean William Scott was his tpyical character, but it was just blah.

Re: Last Movies You Have Rented

I just finished Role Models with Sean William Scott and Paul Rudd
VERY Funny! I enjoyed it a lot. A lot of crude humor, but Paul Rudd's comedic timing is spot on.

Really? Can you expand on what you thought was so terrible?

it was ridiculous. only actor that even looked remotely similar was condoleeza. it served no purpose. it was boring and i think it was too obvious that it was exagerrated. i just thought it was utterly boring and the constant country music was hideous.

I think that a lot of it depends on what you expected from it. It was definitely not a bio-pic. There were all sorts of details which were inaccurate - some that mattered, some that did not. Easy details that a bio-pic would have been able to portray accurately - such as showing George and Barbara Bush hanging out in Kennebunkport in February rather than in Houston where they spend Winters, or George and Laura waiting for election returns in 2000 in Crawford, rather than the governor's mansion where they were - were wrong, but it did not matter. Someone upthread mentioned that the DVD cover refers to the movie as satire. I watched it from the standpoint of being historical fiction. I looked at it as Oliver Stone imagining how things could have happened based on information that the public knows about Bush. From that standpoint, I found it entertaining. Although I will say, I found Will Ferrel's portrayal and take of Bush in his Broadway show to be much more entertaining.

28 Weeks Later.

I normally don't like slasher/zombie pictures but this film was riveting and beautifully done. The epilogue shots in Paris were chilling.
