Ruins - meh, I could have done without it. It was entertaining but didn't grab me as scary.

American Gangster- Great film! I will never get tired of seeing Denzel on my screen, ever!

It was like a Schwarzenegger SciFi movie with subtle wit and humor.

Me too, me too, me too! Very, very excited. I loved Hellboy so much that I bought not only it, but the two companion animated films, neither of which I have seen yet.

I just taped and watched Cecil B. DeMille's Greatest Show on Earth. Love that movie. Since the Ringling Bros. Circus wintered not far from us, my parents took me to the dress rehearsals every year. I got to see the circus train go by on many occasions and I lived in Sarasota near where they filmed the big Circus parade in the movie.

While it was made before I was born, I love the movie as it evokes such great childhood memories for me.
Great actors in it as well: Jimmy Stewart, Charlton Heston. Cameos by Bing Crosby and Bob Hope due to Dorothy Lamour being in it. Even the head of the Ringling Circus at the time: John Ringing North plays himself in the movie.
And Emmet Kelly is in it as well.

If you haven't seen it, it's a classic.

Watched The Ruins last night. Two young couples on vacation, hungry plants, bad things happen at an ancient Mayan temple. Really, not very scary at all, but there were two or three gore-filled scenes. I'd heard great things about the original novel by Scott Smith...I should have picked up a copy of that instead. I'm glad I didn't bother going to the theater for this one like I'd wanted when it came out.

Not a rental, but went to see this today. The effects were fabulous, as was the acting, but the writing was on the weak side. The very weak side. Certainly not as impressive as the first film. Still and all, a reasonably decent summer timewaster.

I watched Fool's Gold earlier today.
It had a few mildly funny moments, but overall wasn't great. It was far longer than necessary - I felt myself wanting it to hurry up and end. I was disappointed because I really like Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey.
