Re: Last Movies You Have Rented

let's start with the bad ...

the onion movie - horrible horrible horrible!!! i like the farceness of the onion website, but this movie was baaaaaad. did i mention yet that it was HORRIBLE? i rarely stop watching in the middle of a movie, but this one i just couldn't stomach ... i had to turn it off.

georgia rule - i wasn't expecting much from this movie, and ended up very pleasantly surprised. lindsey lohan is one messed up young woman, but there's no denying that girl can act. as much as i can't stand HER as a celebrity, i've always been impressed by her acting skills (though i haven't seen EVERYTHING she's done). this movie ended up having a very very serious sub-plot that sucked me in big time. i even cried. very good movie ... i think i will add it to my list of 'to buy' movies.

meet the robinsons - considering this one was a disney movie, i was expecting a lot, and i have to admit, about halfway into the movie, i was thinking "c'mon, disney can do better than this!" but then the unexpected twist started to reveal itself and i was amazed at how it all pulled together in the end. very very cool, disney! another movie to add to my collection.

I watched 10,000 BC today and pretty much liked it. I think some subplots could have been fleshed out a little better but all in all it was entertaining to watch. Next on my blockbuster queue is Vantage Point.

barefoot, I'm glad to read a good review about Georgia Rule. I've been debating on whether to see that one and think I'll give it a try. But I don't like really depressing movies. Is this one of them or do you feel pretty good by the end?

i didn't find it depressing at all. there is a very serious issue with the characters, but the ending was ... okay i guess. not bad. but not spectacular. but that's okay.

after you watch the movie, check out the alternate endings in the bonus area.

ps...i had originally not been interested in the movie either, but then i found out it was a garry marshall movie, and i've liked EVERY one of his that i've seen, so i gave this one a chance. i'm glad i did.

This is one of the few Disney movies that I refuse to buy. Even now, I cannot get over how they kept on hammering home how unwanted this boy was.. how "weird" the boy was. Nothing could quite redeem it for me and instead my heart broke for every orphan, foster, and/or adopted child.

Can't believe it took so long for me to rent this, but Notes on a Scandal. Brilliant!

I expected to really hate it, but I actually found myself liking it. I love James Bond movies and this was such a huge departure from some of the others, but it was pretty good.

Carolina Moon I like Nora Roberts' mystery novels, including this one. BUT, this movie was awful and the acting was just pathetic (leads were Claire Forlani and Oliver Hudson). Yuck.

Jindabyne I'm still trying to decide if I liked this movie. It was set in Australia, a story about a man and his friends who discover a body on a fishing trip but don't report it right away and then the aftermath of that decision. I really like the lead actors Gabriel Byrne and Laura Linney but the scenes jumped around alot and that was distracting to me.

National Treasure 2 Book of Secrets I really enjoyed this one. These movies are so much fun.

Stop-Loss : Very good movie. All of the actors, Ryan Phillippe, Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt(the main guys) were great.

The Bucket List - loved it. Made me think a lot and it made me want to have my own list.

Fool's Gold - fell asleep. 'nuff said

The Ultimate Gift - really enjoyed it. Went places I didn't expect, but a basic little movie that I liked

Juno - Quirky and well acted. Enjoyable

PS I Love You - total chick flick/cry fest - but I love Hillary Swank and thought it was a terrific movie.
