Finally saw The Bourne Ultimatum and liked it as much, if not more than the other two.

2 Days in Paris - Didn't like it! And Adam Goldberg's dirty looking beard didn't help. There were some funny parts but not enough to hold my interest.

I rented a movie called Shoot em Up. It was so over the top with shooting from beginning to end but it was entertaining. I thought of it as the movie Crank. The fast paced non stop action was a welcome change.

I rented the movie War. I didn't even watch most of it - I wandered off and let my husband finish it. I rarely walk out on a movie, so it takes a lot to completely lose my attention. I think part of the problem for me was that Jason Statham is one of the stars. I have seen a few other movies starring him that I didn't like (The Transporter, Crank, and Snatch) so I think this movie had a strike against it as soon as I saw him on the screen...

Run Lola Run - I had never caught this one before, and it was definitely entertaining and an intriguing look at how the little things in life can turn out to have tremendous consequences. That said, even though I liked the titular character, I found the other main character (her boyfriend) rather unlikeable. Overall, it was still definitely a good time.

Primer - From what I understand, this is a very accurate portrayal of what time travel would be like in "real life." Thus, it's extremely confusing, and one would have to watch it several times to figure out what's really going on with all these doubles of people running around and questioning each character's ulterior motives at every turn. I certainly applaud its effort to accurately portray the paradoxes that arise when you think about time travel, and it's really well-done for a lower-budget film.

Ichi the Killer - I'm not sure what I was expecting--maybe a black comedy in the vein of Dead Alive, but it was nothing like that. Despite the film's alleged exploration of sadism vs. sadomasochism and what-have-you, it's really just depraved torture porn in the vein of Hostel and all that. I didn't even finish it. Not recommended at all.

    On the other hand. . . .

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas - I don't know how I'd missed seeing this before now! I'm a huge fan of Terry Gilliam, and the combination of Gilliam and Hunter S. Thompson is almost too good to be true. Awesome.

See I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum with that movie. While I'm madly in love with most anything Johnny Depp, I can honestly say that I despised this movie when I saw it. Maybe I could give it another chance but I just found it boring and...I don't know how to explain it, really. Since it is JD, I suppose I can give it another shot. Perhaps this week. Maybe this time I will ave a different feeling about it. That's what happened with Blair Witch and Pet Cemetary. I really didn't like either movie the first time I saw it (I saw PS in the theater and walked out and I saw BW at my friend's house) but then I really liked it when I watched them again.

Oceans 13 - Could not get through even the first 30 minutes ...so boring. I loved Oceans 11 but could not really get into Oceans 12. Oceans 13 was very disappointing to me.

Cinderella Man - I'm not a boxing fan and had to cover my eyes during the boxing scenes but I thought this was a terrific movie and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Just rented and watched 310 to Yuma! How in God's name did this get such great reviews. The writing was atrocious.
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's too late to stop reading it.

I just tried to watch Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I was a huge fan of the book. Loved Hunter S. Thompson and I love Johnny Depp, but I could NOT get into this movie.

The Kingdom Very sobering but good movie. I think should be a must watch for all Americans. It is violent, but because of the storyline and where it takes place, the violence is not gratuitous but necessary for the plot. But the very end is CHILLING. One of those movies that makes you THINK after you've watched it.

StardustThis movie was very entertaining. I have to say I liked it better than the Golden Compass because it was kind of humerous and seemed to be able to poke fun at itself and still be entertaining and not totally unbelievable. DeNiro is absolutely wonderful in his role. And Michelle Pfiffer is very good too. We all liked it very much.
