We just rented "The 5 People You Meet in Heaven". It was made for TV, but released on DVD. I really enjoyed it, and it pretty much stayed true to the book, except for one important part. I'm not sure if I can say or it's considered a spoiler? But anyway, did anyone else enjoy the movie, if they saw it on tv? I did think it was a little slow. I actually read the book in the same amount of time as it took to watch it!

We rented Meet the Fockers last night. It was pretty funny - but then again, my sense of humour can be a bit immature sometimes - and it was nice seeing Dustin Hoffman and Robert de Niro interact. As much as I enjoyed seeing them doing comedy, I wish both of them would do something high-profile soon. When was the last time either of them did something truly brilliant? With de Niro, I would say Casino; in Hoffman's case, I can't even remember. Talk about underachievers.

I don't think they are underachievers. If anything, I would guess they are both secure in what they both have done that now they can pick and choose and do movies for the fun of it.

We watched Elektra, which was a disappointment on so very many levels. As a huge fan of the original Frank Miller Elektra: Assassin comics, I was pissed off that they didn't get a single thing right about her character or her story--the movie Elektra shares almost nothing with the original character save for their names and propensity for red clothing, and what I loved about the real Elektra was that she was a complex, deeply troubled, cold-blooded warrior, and this movie was like a reductionist Lifetime Television for Women version. As a fan of Jennifer Garner, I was pissed off that her talents seemed under-utilized; and as much as I love the Jenn, I think she was miscast in this role anyway. Her girl-next-door wholesomeness serves her well as Sydney in "Alias," but Elektra is much darker and more mysterious. There are some really pointless "love interest" moments that annoyed me and made the movie seem even longer. There were some cool action scenes, but nothing I haven't seen done before (and better) in the HK films the director is clearly ripping off. I liked Typhoid Mary and Tattoo, but the Hand was really lame (especially in comparison to the comics).

Rented one of Dave Chapelle's Season 2 DVDs and laughed until I cried. i don't have cable so I have to wait until they come out on DVD. House of Flying Daggers was gone (as usual). I think someone is stealing them.

I love the Dave Chappelle Show, Kao! Well worth renting, I think. Have you already seen Season 1? From the first episode, it's classic. Pity about House of Daggers being out, reminds me of how long I waited for Sideways to be available.

Nope. Blockbusters only had one copy of Season One and someone stole it. Finally they just took the box down and didn't order any more. Hopefully I'll see the rest of Season 2 and find Season One somewhere. The Charlie Murphy story with Prince where he beats them all at basketball while wearing Purple Rain clothes and made them all pancakes afterwards had me crying.

I call that place "Ballbusters" myself. Get on Netflix, my friend. They have the Chappelle show from season one. You've got to see the blind white supremacist who doesn't know he's actually black (and no one has the heart to tell him otherwise).

Finally got to see The Incredibles over the weekend. It was witty and entertaining, but it was okay at best, IMO.

Oooh, loved House of Flying Daggers- it will be worth the wait. My husband actually liked Hero better, but was very pleased with House as well.
