I just watched Malibu's Most wanted and "the nudey verison" (as my co-worker/friend put it) of the Girl Next Door.. Both really entertained me, and I am by far and large NOT a movie person.. but I really enjoyed them both.. they were both comedies, but in such different ways, it was great... and I really liked the storyline on the Girl Next Door, which, thinking it was a "Teen movie" would have just about none.. but it actually Did!!!
I watched Brain Damage last night. The last time I had seen it was on VHS from Paramount (it was editing a bit too much). Synapse has released it on dvd, in it's uncut form. Despite the low budget ($600,000), it's an excellent movie. Fans of Basket Case should check this out.
I'll be on the look out for Thriller, Brain Damage and Basket Case, weston. That's if I can find a videostore which carries them. ;)
A couple of movies I've seen recently:
Good, Bad, and the Ugly (Special edition), *****
The Iron Giant, ****
A special edition dvd is coming out in November!
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. I LOVE that movie, it's Leone at his best. I also really like the Iron Giant and am looking forward to the SE.
All 3 of the other movies mentioned can be found at mass market places like Best Buy, but not at places like Wal-Mart.
I watched some of the short films off The Hire, featuring Clive Owen. The short films are done by big name directors (and have big name actors) for some cool short films.
The one I will mention is "Beat the Devil". It was fun to watch. All I can say is that it has:
James Brown (yes, the Godfather of Soul).
Danny Trejo (the bartender that was on "From Dusk Till Dawn").
and Marilyn Manson.
It's directed by Tony Scott (Top Gun, True Romance, Man on Fire)
Thanks for the info! I've been looking for this one.

Ladykillers starring Tom Hanks = One extremely bad movie.
My friends and I rented "Dirty Dancing- Havana Nights" on Friday. I actually kind of liked it. :blush :blush perhaps because Diego Luna was in it. :heart
We rented Taking Lives last night. I loved it. Figured out who the killer was pretty early in the movie. I just love movies that make me jump.
Toothdoc, I jumped at a couple of scenes, too. :D
The Magificent Seven, ***
The cowboy re-make of the Seven Samurai. Not bad for a budget-priced DVD. Extras include commentary from part of the cast (James Coburn!) and an excellent doc.
Welcome to the Dollhouse, ****
Painful, but honest. All the bad memories of grade school are coming back to me.
Vampire Hunter D (Special edition), ****
The spagetti western of vampire movies. This was my very first anime back in the day. Looks a bit dated, but still very cool.
La Dolce Vita, *****
This film may not make a big impression on first viewing, but it stays with you long after you view it.
I'm half way through Big Fish. :sleep
Fahrenheit 911..........I found it very interesting
