House of Sand and Fog...?
I know this is rather lazy of me, but I haven't looked up this movie after having viewed it.
For the most part, I found the movie to be well-acted but profoundly disturbing. Ben Kingsley is truly a genius.
I cried throughout the last half of it.
Do you think the movie provides some larger commentary...on something?
After puzzling through it, I wonder if the movie is a commentary on how easily we (as a species) go to arms over property rights. Would it be a stretch to include the fight over national boundaries?
Anyway...just thought I'd ask all of you. I left the movie thinking, "What did I just see?" and WTF?
Your comments and musings would be much open-heartedly appreciated.
I haven't seen this movie. I want to see this movie. Extremely bad. It's good, right? I heard it was really good.
Well, I got deeply involved in the characters' lives. On the one hand, that's good.
It's not a...feel-good movie. I'm, quite frankly, conflicted about this movie. That's why I posted my inquiry. See it and let me know what you think.
I just finished watching this movie
Great movie, I hated it.
The acting is terrific, but it is so depressing and heart breaking.
Would I recommend this movie? Not to anyone.
I plan on renting this Shayla, so I'll post my thoughts on it after I get the chance to see it. I'm certainly intrigued now, after all the ambivalence of the posts here.

it's next on my netflix list! i read the book and LOVED it, so i'm anxious to see the movie. i wouldn't think it would be warm and uplifting as the book was very sad and dark. i'm not sure i really even understood what the real struggle was or who it was between.
