This movie was written mostly by Brent Spiner. I just read an article in TV Guide about it. Apparently, they wrote the first script, and brought it to Patrick Stewart, and he said "no way." So, they totally re-wrote it, to get him on board. But it's based on a short story Spiner wrote.

If I were a Trekkie, I'd be all over this movie.

It looks pretty good. I hope it's better than the last offering in the ST:TNG franchise. "Insurrection" would have made a great afterschool special, but it sucked as a Star Trek movie. The Trek movies have always been better when they've been about pure space action, not space opera.

I'm kind of a Trekkie.

I've never been into Sci-fi in general or Star Trek in particular.

There are so many ardent Star Trek fans though and I hope this movie will be enjoyable for them.

I'm kind of a trekkie, too. No, I can't tell you what happened on epsiode for stardate xx.xx.xx like the real hard-core trekkies, but I know the main characters since I did watch a lot of the Star Trek:Next Generation episodes.

I'm definitely watching this one.

And I agree that "insurrection" was really awful.

It seems to be billed as a story similar to an original Trek episode where they encounter themselves in the alternative evil universe. I think I will let this one hit the streets a while before I check it out.

I'd watch that and hope he screws up.

I watched this movie, Monday night. It was okay, but not as good as I thought it would be. The demise of one of the major characters was predictable, but still sad to see.
