This isn't one of the quintessential 80's movies, but I always loved "Erik the Viking."

I know they have been mentioned already but my two favorites are The Breakfast Club and National Lampoon's Vacation (Cousin Eddie is hilarious!)

I dont think I can add to the list all my favs have been mentioned (Princess Bride, Big Trouble in Little China, St elmo's fire, Indianna Jones movies, Slapshot and Heathers (the scene with Christian Slater in the booth at the diner makes me melt every time) are some of my absolute favs) But can I just say that the topic was great 80s movies. watches2muchTV, I'm sorry but xanadu! Great??? Memorable for being bad maybe but Great? no. I remember my friend won premier tickets to it when it first opened in our home town. 1980 something I was in my teens. We were so excited, all dressed up we sat down and watched. My god I was so dissappointed. I couldnt speak it was the worst movie I had ever seen and from the looks of most people coming out of the theatre they felt the same. Now when its on TV I watch it for five minutes to remember my a teenagehood and then i remember how bad the movie is and turn it off.

ok Lucynda, I agree with you that it was a bad movie in the essence of being a movie, but I just HAD to mention it since I was reliving the 80's in my head at the moment and the flashing lights and Olivia Newton John just popped in.... sorry.... It was more remembering my teenage years as being great than the actual movie being great... my bad.

Dux, you'll have to come visit us, if for no other reason, our husbands could hang out together. My husband watches that damn movie EVERY time it's on have you never seen it? Make sure the kiddies aren't in the room when you do, the air actually turns blue when it's on
