Rusell Crowe was better in ABM, Kylie, but I'm thinking they gave him the award the year before (for "Gladiator") because he hadn't gotten it the year before that (when Kevin Spacey won for "American Beauty")...

Lobeck

So complicated! They should just go by what happens that year, IMO.

Memory fails me, what movie was Crowe in that was up for an Oscar the year before Gladiator?

I believe that was "The Insider" - excellent performance!

But we're hijacking the thread.

On topic - Unbreakable. I enjoyed it, but after The Sixth Sense, I expected much more.

Star Wars: Attack of the Clones was disappointing, though I've never been that into the franchise.

Thanks W, The Insider, also a great movie!

Oh, man. You better hope Paulie doesn't see this - he's going to be very, very disappointed in you, KG.

However, I tend to agree. Here is my quick summary of the film:

Padmé: Anakin, we can never be together. Do I look good in this shear white outfit?

Padmé: Anakin, we can never be together. What do you think of this little black leather number? It's so tight it makes me look like I actually have breasts you know.

The thing that stood out to me the most in the film is that they must have amazing suitcase technology in the Star Wars universe, because not only could Padmé fit all her clothes into her little carry-on bag, but it was actually narrower than some of her headdresses!

It's OK for Kylie to not like Episode II. I enjoyed it. Not 100% of it, but enough that I was satisfied. I love all things Star Wars, though.

As for the Academy Awards, nothing should ever be read into who wins what from year to year. Most of the time, people win because they should have won for some other performance years ago, but some other schmo who was "due" won that year instead. It's unfortunate that it's considered the pinnacle of movie awards because it's so political and short-sighted.

I agree with you about Unbreakable Wayner.
I was very disappointed.

I actually think the premise for the story is good but the movie was a total snooze for me.

You know Wayner, that doesn't bother me a bit!
Considering everything else in this movie series being completely unrealistic, I find that to be a minor detail.
Gotta love Star Wars!

And yes, Unbreakable, and Meet Joe Black - what letdowns! (I had a Brad Pitt urge so I rented MJB altough I knew it was going to be bad, I just didn't realise how bad it would be...).
