i love the previews for this movie. i am SUCH a chickflick fiend! it looks like the kind of movie i could go to and sit back and just relax and get lost in it. but i would need a glass of wine while i watched. *needs to find a bigger purse to sneak in her bottle of hooch

She may be a little older now, but she still rates a hubba-hubba on the hottie scale.

Diane Lane is like good, aged wine. And she's not a boring actor at all - just a subtle one.

But this movie does nuthin' for me. Yeah, I know it's got great pedigree, a good cast, and probably wonderful cinematography - but the story itself seems kinda ho-hum. Of course, that probably means every mainstream critic in the country is going to describe it as "uplifting and poignant".

IMO, this is in sorta the same league as "My Life Without Me". That one doesn't appeal to me, neither

(And no, I'm not the type that likes action movies. I dunno - maybe it's just the synopsis that's got me thinking it going to be dull, sentimental, and pandering to the tastes of the masses.. )

Zhora, are those lazer beams shooting through the top of the picture?

I get "out" to the movies so seldom I always have a bunch I want to see more than this kind of movie. I'd much rather read a book.

The book this movie was loosely based on was terrific, imho. It was a leisurely, meandering read that I really enjoyed.

Thanks for the tip. My first requirement for a good book is that it be BIG, not big print on 100 pages. Usually the book is way better than the movie anyway.

The only movie I can think off hand I liked better than the book was The Dead Zone by Stephen King. Christopher Walken was so good in the movie. (But I digress.)

Definite chick flick, tissue needed. Scenery was beautiful, story dull and predictable.
