Some of the key scenes in North By Northwest could easily be considered action movie like. And sometimes what makes a movie a Thriller can make it an action movie too! North By Northwest is just an early example of what eventually becomes the genre "an Action movie". I would call it a Thriller/Action movie. But it is not just a pure Action movie. It is out on a remastered DVD, check it out sometime soon Modesty. Hitchcock & Cary Grant aren't a bad combination.

OBMF - Just teasing you a bit I have no idea how they come up with the cathegorization at imdb, but I think as I said before, that it is probably quite subjective what you perceive a movie to be .
Alas, I don't own a DVD player, but I should see if I can rent the tape somewhere. I LOVE Hitchcock's movies!!, and this one I really haven't seen in a while.

Modesty you are obviously a BIG movie fan. A Dvd player is a must for you! I'm thinking you should ask for or buy your own Dvd player for Christmas. You'd really enjoy it.

Would "Spider-Man" be considered an action film? We got the DVD the other day and watched it last night. I really liked it!

I ended up seeing Spiderman three times in the theatre and now we have it on dvd too.
We have a plasma screen tv (not as big as a big screen - it's 42 inches) but the picture and sound quality make the movie look amazing.

    Ooo, plasma screen TV.

Mmm, Fluff sitting in front of plasma screen TV.

When you're ten years old and a car drives by and splashes a puddle of water all over you, it's hard to decide if you should go to school like that or try to go home and change and probably be late. So while he was trying to decide, I drove by and splashed him again. - Jack Handey

Man, I'm getting old. I'd drool over just the plasma screen TV.
