I agree with Die Hard. I also feel the two sequels did what many do not; they held close to level of greatness as the original IMO.

I guess those who like Die Hard will remain die hard fans.

Hm, time to cast my vote.

DIE HARD!!!! Greatest f-in' movie of all time. Never been more excited watching a film as I was the very first time I saw that movie. I literally could hardly breathe during the final half hour of the film. And the dialogue! So many great lines. Oh, my goodness. I could go on and on. And, PKeeper, I agree. The sequels were both very good, as well.

    Other top action movies
Raiders of the Lost Ark trilogy
    Predator
    Aliens
    Terminator 2: Judgement Day
    Speed
    The Matrix (would that count?)

Paulie I love The Matrix even though "whoa" Reeves is in it. That's on of my top 5 action movies. I have to think about the rest hee.

Paulie, I think you are my brother in law Paul!
His wife calls Die Hard his "stopper movie"... you know, if your changing channels and come upon it, you stop to watch, no matter where it is in the movie.

Die hard was great, I LOVE action flicks.
Any Jackie Chan... even the old really badly filmed ones are great!
I could watch XMen over and Over....and over..... Loved that movie

    Was A Knights Tale Action?

I can not get into the old movies.

Hmmm, I'd say no, but it was a very, very fun film. And we all know Miss Filangi liked it.

Why do I say no? Hello? Where were the explosions?!!!

And The Matrix? Is there a better slow-motion-shoot-up-the-office-building-lobby scene on film? I don't think so! Love that movie!!!

Excellent point, Wayner. The lobby scene is a classic.

I just thought the movie itself was so much more thought-provoking and challenging than your average action movie. I wasn't sure it would qualify because of that. I'm wrong.

I don't care for Keanu that much, Modesty, and there were some scenes that really stretched the limits of credibility, but I do think Speed was an exciting movie. I will say that it ALMOST didn't make my list, though. It's certainly not one of my all-time favorites. The others are. In fact, all of the others I listed are part of my rather small DVD collection.
