| Monster's Ball *SPOILERS* I just saw this movie on DVD and I found it so depressing. I know the ending is supposed to end on a positive note but you just have to slog through so much bad stuff to get there. How can you like Billy Bob Thornton's character after seeing the first 1/2 hour of the film? And Halle Berry slapping her kid for eating candy bars. I am just frustrated that I sat through it all. I hate seeing kids get hurt - especially when her son is killed I felt like it was gratuitous and the viewer is being manipulated. Yes, I was shocked & affected by this movie, which was probably the filmmaker's only goal. | |

| I am a big fan of disturbing out of the norm filmmaking but this film just seemed... i dunno... off to me... Something was just missing. Halle turned in a great performance, but the movie never captured me like I would want. |

| This movie was terrible... the acting was good (not as good as people said it was, but good enough) but the movie itself was just retarded. Hell, had they actually had some music in the film it might not have felt as though it went on for 6 hours.
