Brazil, and Baron Van Munchausen were definitely offbeat.
Two choice for me would be Time Bandits and Remo Williams as far as ones I've enjoyed.
Two choices for ones I haven't enjoyed would be Blue Velvet and Repo Man.
I loved Remo Williams!
Oh man, some good ones here. Rat Race, Time Bandits, Remo Williams, 8 Heads in a Duffel Bag...All good movies.
I've always liked "Better Off Dead", and that's the ultimate in offbeat movies.
I just thought of another, "After Dark".
See, I loved "Rat Race", but I wouldn't consider it "offbeat"...:shrug
Being John Malkovich...now that's offbeat, and I didn't like it at all...:barf
Would "Moulin Rouge" be considered offbeat? :shrug
I didn't like Being John Malkovich, either.
Remo Williams was mildly enjoyable, but I'd read so many of the books that I couldn't help but be disappointed by what I saw on-screen. I'm sure if I had not read any of the books, I would have been more pleased by the movie.
ah, see...this is why reading is a bad thing ;)
**No, the substitute did not just say that!**
Actually, I wouldn't necessarily promote reading the Remo Williams series. Lots of carnage and sex and swearing and stuff. Not great literature, but perfect for a hormonally-supercharged teen like I was when I read those books. :laugh
So, the only thing that's changed is that you're not a teen, Paulie? :lol
I watched Moulin Rouge the other day...Well, about half of it, until my wife made me turn it. I actually thought it wasn't half bad. Nothing I'd go see in a theater, but I applaud the bold style. Except that I had to listen to a couple of terrible versions of "Your Song" :)
