What's all the fuss about?

Are there any movies that you feel are totally overrated?

One at the top of my list would have to be The Talented Mr Ripley.

Oh, and Forest Gump, what a pile that was.

The English Patient

One of the worst movies of all times.

Castaway.
I can't believe people were saying that movie was great. I sure didn't see anything that would suggest that.

Right there with Bravo and Fluff on The English Patient and Forrest Gump. The brainless blockheads at the Academy fell in love with both flicks so we're stuck with 'em in all the almanacs to come. What a shame.

I guess that's what makes the world go 'round...differences of opinions...I thought The Talented Mr. Ripley, The English Patient, and Forrest Gump were all very good (and we own 2 on VHS and one on DVD )......I, on the other hand, think almost anything by Woody Allen, Spike Lee, or Oliver Stone is almost always overrated...

Woo lobeck, I gotcha there. I hate Woody Allen movies, have never seen a Spike Lee movie, and think Oliver Stone is a paranoid who likes to make his movies twice as long as he should.

and the differences are abundant.
i really like woody allen movies (though i have to attend them at the theater alone!)
and i've seen a couple of really good spike lee movies.

oliver stone... i'm with you on that one... they are normally twice as long as necessary. but i REALLY liked his movie, "natural born killers." cool camera work.

I did like Forrest Gump, I thought it was fun and clever.

The Deer Hunter
The English Patient
Meet the Parents

Ugggggghh. Terrible movies! I'm sure I'll think for more later.
