2001 Space Odyssey, Chariots of Fire, Out of Africa, Four Weddings & a Funeral, Love Story, Big Fat Greek Wedding

Also agree with Casablanca, English Patient, Moulin Rouge, Citizen Kane, Eyes Wide Shut, Gladiator, Star Wars, Forrest Gump. I couldn't even sit through The Avengers -- was that critically acclaimed enough to qualify as overrated?!

I was disappointed after watching In The Bedroom. For weeks the stars of the movie were on talk shows raving about it. The critics were constantly praising it and expecting Oscars wins.
It was so slow and boring. Because of all the hype, I basically knew what happens in it, so it was dull.

Oh, wow, Circe -- I'm with ya on "Big Fat Greek Wedding"... not a bad movies, but I had super high expectations because all my friends raved about it. I don't understand what the big deal was. Basically just a happy, feel good kind of movie, and I didn't think it was all that great. IMO, once you've seen it - there's no need to see it again.

OTOH, I saw "Catch Me If You Can" which I loved!! Is there a thread for that??

Titanic was worth the hype when I was sixteen...now, wow, it's a really really bad movie

My Big Fat Greek Wedding was the biggest dissapointment EVER. So much praise for such a boring and fake movie.

Just saw Frida..uh yeah...if that was what Frida Kahlo was actually like I'm so over her!

Finally, 24-hour-party-people. Bored out of my skull!

    1. The English Patient
    2. Titanic
    3. Gladiator
    4. Shawshank Redemption - Just kidding, just kidding.

Most recently, Black Hawk Down. Damn, I must have fallen asleep like two or three times. They should have called it "Phat32 Down...and Having a Nice Nap on the Couch."

Oh, Big Fat Greek Wedding was a big disappointment! The critics all kept raving about it, and when I finally saw it a month later, it was nowhere near as good as I expected.

Agreed on My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Huge disapointment

But for me, it was A Walk to Remember. I was very close to falling asleep during that movie!!! Possibly that's just because I hate sappy movies, but my friends would rave on and on about it being their favorite movie...

Not to me you don't. But there are others around here who would take issue with you.
